AW! Delilah May is 8 days old - birth story and PIP

Hello ladies 
It?s been a bit frantic, but Ive finally found some time to introduce you to our little girl, Delilah.
At my 37w 4d appointment my Dr noted that she still wasnt gaining weight as she should and that the amnio levels were low. So we agreed that it was best to go for a CSection the next morning.
At 11am on Wednesday 30th Janary, she was delivered, and didn?t make a peep. I knew the drs were a tad worried as they kept asking thru to the nurses how she was, but after a few minutes we heard her cry so I relaxed a weey bit. Then they brought her to me and she was soooo tiny! Just 5lbs 12oz ,whereas her big brother was 8lbs 8oz. She went to the ICU, but only for a few hrs, and we were allowed to go home on Saturday morning.
She had her first checkup today with our Paediatrician and she is almost back to her birth weight. However he did note that she has some preemie issues that stem from her not getting enough nutrients in the womb - her umbilical cord fell off at just 4 days old as it was so thin. She has some jaundice, her sugar problems have resolved now, but she can?t properly breast feed as she gets tired very easily (She dropped 10oz in the first 2 days after her delivery) so although I?m breast feeding her, I?m also expressing and topping up with formula where needed as she finds it easier to take from a bottle. We are to take her back for another check up in 2 weeks.

She sounds like a little fighter. Keep up the good work, Mama. Thank you for sharing your story. BTW, how is DS adjusting to all of this?
She is beautiful! I hope she continues to improve every day.. it seems that she's already a little fighter :-)

Well initially he was very keen on "sharing" his toys with her in his own special way of course. So we had to keep one arm free as he wld come charging over, toy in hand, and try to whack her with it. Or he threw them at her from afar. 
So we had to be pretty firm with him from the get go and hold his hand so he could stroke her without hitting her. And then load him with praise when he was gentle.
A few days down the line and he?s pretty much lost interest. I guess it?s cz she doesnt do much and has no flashing lights or music
When he does come over to look at her he doesnt bring his toys, is much calmer and although he doesnt reach out to touch her by himself, when we hold his hand he is much more gentle.
We are really impressed with how quickly he seems to have understood what is being asked of him. Obviously time will tell how he adjusts, and the big test will be when my sister returns home in a month and I?ll be home alone with them both.
It?s going to be hard on all three of us, but once we have our new routine established, I?m sure we will be fine.
Well...I say that, but of course I have no idea what to expect!! I?m just gonna have to wing it and hope for the best. Goodness knows how long I?m going to have to wait to be able to pick him up for his nappy changes, or getting him in and out of his crib, and what I?m going to do in the meanwhile
