Daycare: day 2

Please tell me it gets easier! DS started DC yesterday, and it was rough. He did great with the other babies and everything, and I know there's gonna be an adjustment period. But he was there from 8 to 1 and napped from 10 to 10:40. Today was 7:45 to 3, but only napped once from 11:40 to 12:15!
I guess I screwed him over in the nap department because even though we've come a long way from napping on me, he's used to blackout curtains, 2 hour awake times, constant static white noise, etc. How/when will he find a decent sleep rhythm? I feel bad for the little dude, and I really wish he weren't so miserable now when we get home and before bed.

Re: Daycare: day 2

  • It does get easier. He just has to figure out DC and how to nap there. Personally, if he's napping such a short time and you are picking up at 3 then I'd go home and put him down for another nap at least until he starts napping better. HUGS! Working mom is hard!

  • It will get better! But, I will say that DD doesn't nap at daycare. She'll take maybe 2 catnaps of 15 to 20 minutes a piece, and that's it. On the plus side, she sleeps SO much better at night on the days she goes to daycare!

  • It definitely gets better.  Our daycare has a daily routine that DD got comfortable with after a week or so.  She takes a morning and afternoon nap and always eats at the same time now.  She even does the same routine on the weekends.  It's actually pretty nice.
