Gender reveal?

We have our next appt this Wednesday and are hoping to get confirmation on the genders of both babies. The u/s tech has given us pretty high percentages on what she thinks they are, but I'm hoping since its been a month since we saw her last she can give us that 100! I know it's early and things can change but she was really confident with one so hoping the same goes with the other. That story aside, was wondering if anyone had any cute ideas for a twin gender reveal besides the boxes full of balloons? TIA!

Re: Gender reveal?

  • We had our AS right at 16 weeks and we were able to clearly see what the sexes were.  We told our family and close friends ahead of time that we would host dinner that night and do the gender reveal.  I made a three layer cake for dessert with blue icing between one layer and pink icing between (we are having a boy & a girl) the other and white icing all around the exterior of the cake.  I decorated the house with pink and blue balloons and we had pink and blue plates, cups, napkins, etc.  We cut the cake before dinner and everyone found out the sexes then! If you are having both boys or both girls you could just do a two layer cake with one layer of icing in blue or pink.  I baked the cakes the night before and iced it right before everyone came over.  This was a fun and cheap way to do the reveal and everyone loved it.  We recorded the cake cutting and it is so fun to watch because everyone's reactions were over the top.  Now if you don't want to find out before everyone you can have the us tech put the sexes in an envelope and take to a baker who will do it for you.

  • There are a bunch of different things you can do. Besides the balloons, I've seen outfits, cakes/cupcakes with either filling or icing. I've also seen angel food or white cake dyed pink/blue. Of course, if you end up with girl(s), you could just do strawberry cake. I've seen where they put the color in a cookie, too.

There's also ones with confetti, but those tend to be messy. Up to you if you want to vacuum, I suppose. I remember one couple had their local paint guy mix a sample jar based on the info. They were painting their nursery either pink or blue (a singleton) and were surprised when they opened the jar.

ETA: A Google search of Twin Gender Reveal will offer a ton of options.

  • We did our gender reveal through cakes, as others have suggested, only we found out along with our family. The ultrasound tech wrote each baby's gender down on a piece of paper then sealed it in an envelope. We took it to a bakery and they made two cakes, one for A and one for B. The timing worked out perfectly, in that we were able to do our big reveal at Thanksgiving dinner. We handed our Hawaiian leis, so each person could make a guess, before the reveal. https://youtu.be/heqVwaJNkZI

It was such a fun way to find out! Whatever method you end up using for your reveal, try to record it if you can. The reactions are priceless!

  • I plan on setting up a photo where there are shoes lined up... my husbands, mine, my son's and then baby a and baby b's (based on gender/color) I also want a picture on the same announcement of myself with a ribbon around my belly with my husband and my son in it somehow. I hope this makes sense the shoe pictures is super cute you should check it out on pinterest.

  • We are just going to write it out in two envelopes with their names and have my mom and mil open them at a family dinner. Before that we will have everyone guess and write down their own name ideas to read out loud for fun.

  • We did a two teir cake with pink icing in between the layers. My husband and I knew the genders, but we cut into each teir one for each baby to let family and friends know.  The bakery was great, they only tell the person who takes the order and fills the cake the gender so even the manager of the bakery didn't know the genders when he was talking to my family when we went to pick up the cake.  Even though it seems like a popular option most of my family had never had the genders revieled to them in that way and they loved it.
