Ok, so I don't have multiples. But I'm pregnant with my third and all three will be under three by the time number 3 arrives, lol. How do you pla on car seat arrangements in your cars? Do you use a third seat? Or can you fit three car seats across?
I have oldest in a convertible front facing. My six month old will be 14 mos when baby comes. She is currently in a pumpkin seat...
Re: Car seats?
So it depends on the type of car you have and the style of car seats. Some cars can do 3 across. You would need to play around with the configuration. I know some people have had luck doing so with a a seat belt install and not the LATCH install.
If you go to the web site carseat.org.They have a lot of answers to this question.
For us the answer was to buy a new car, we had a small sedan and were expecting twins plus we have an oldr DD.So three across was not going to work in our car. We now have a mini van and our older DD sits in the third row and the twins each sit in a captain chair in the 2nd row.
Good luck.
I have a friend with 3 Diono Radians across the back of a Honda Civic, so it can be done!
I have a VW Golf and DH has a VW Jetta (but it's older and smaller than the new ones). We can fit 3 across in both cars. I seem to be able to fit any combination of Radians / Diono's FF or RF and Chicco Keyfits. I'll have DS FF (he gets carsick - otherwise he'd still be RF) behind the passengers seat and 2 Keyfits.
If you only have one back seat you can make it work, I'd probably do the Keyfit behind your seat. The older kid can be in the middle (he can climb over the other seat and be buckled while you're sitting in the front seat) and the 14 mo behind the passenger seat RF. I've never tried one but I hear the Corocco Combi is a small convertible.
We are stuck in a lease and financially can't justify breaking the lease to buy a new car. I have a Honda CRV and will be fitting 3 across in the back seat. My toddler is in the Britax Boulevard and the twins will either be in Cybex Atons or Combi Shuttles (both narrow car seats). Our other option was to get a Diono Radian for our toddler and leverage the Graco Snugride 35 and buy another infant seat.
We won't be able to use LATCH for any of the hookups and will need to seat belt install everything. I went to a specialty baby store in my area and their car seat specialist helped me fit and figure out what worked in my car. It was really helpful. I would recommend it if there is a store like that in your area.
