We enrolled DS in a toddler class at a local preschool starting in September he will be two at this point. It's two days a week, four hours a day.
I feel a little guilty because I'm home work on contract basis but I think he needs the socialization. He has really bad stranger anxiety. Ds2 will be here too so I will love the alone time with him but that's adding to the guilt.
Anyone else not already in a daycare center starting something like this?
Re: "Preschool"
We are touring a school next week that DS would start attending in the Fall. It is a special needs school for kids ages 12 months to 5. The two-year old class is 3 days a week for 3 hours. It sounds like a lot to me, but I think that is just because he is my baby still (Waaaaaahhh!). The reasons we are considering it are more based on the fact that they will provide all of his therapies in once place. We also think he will benefit from being around other kids his own age and from being lead by other adults who have experience with developmental delays. I am hesitant because I feel like he (will be) just two when we send him, and that seems so young still. I also feel a little guilty about "choosing" to send him away, but I am pretty sure that the benefits will far outweigh my emotions lol.
So, yeah. I get it. You could always sign up and try it. Give it a few months, and then decide if it is still something you like. I think having alone time with the new baby would make it worth it for sure!
I hope it's easier in September!
Your school sounds awesome! It will definitely be hard but I'm sure it will be a great experience for him... And you
It will get easier. It will get easier. It wil get easier.....
DS (2.5) started a 2y program today, 1 day a week 75 minutes, he ran away from me to go to school and LOVED it. He didn't want to leave today. I a SAHM but library time is a challenge with 2 active toddlers, so I did this so I can take DD to library by herself. If I am still home in Sept DD who will then be 2 will start same program and DS will move up to 3y program and also go more days a week.
Socially it is great for them.
