I was thinking of getting O a baby doll or cabage patch type doll, I really see no issue with a boy having one. At mommy and me I saw him put the baby bottle to the babys mouth and it was the cutest thing ever!! And he has pushed around the toy stroller at my moms house with the baby in it. Of course my dad says "what is he doing with that?" but he is mainly trying to annoy me lol
Anyone have dolls for the boys? Or even toy cars or trucks for their girls?
Re: gender specific toys
That is D's favorite thing right now. She loves the stroller she got for xmas.
We've gotten her dinosaurs & john deere tractors. She plays with both. I see no harm in it. I think it is great!
I actually have plans to get G a truck or a train or something like that. Not so she'll specifically have a "boy" toy but I just feel like she'd enjoy it.
My sister let my nephew pick out any toy he wanted when we went to a sale once and he picked out a doll. It was so sweet how much he loved that doll.
I say go for it. If he enjoys it and has fun that's all that counts.
Oh, I just remembered. My H's favorite toy growing up was a "My Buddy" doll. He loved it so much his sisters still call him buddy.
my SIL won't let her son so much as hold a doll, ever. she will get onto him.
I see no problem with it at all. matter of fact, I think it would be great for development.
Yes- We have everything, but I have a girl and boy. One of K's favorite things right now is to diaper and and sit in the rocking chair with his babies. He pushes the stroller and shopping cart.
L plays with the cars and trucks. When she was this age, she loved her pink monster truck. She also went through a big train phase.
I think that boys having girly toys is way more taboo than girls having boyish toys. When girls play with boy things, they're "tomboys" or "tough kids," but when boys play with girly things, they're "sissys" or something with an equally negative implication.
I completely disagree with these stereotypes, and I think getting a baby doll for a boy is a great idea. Gender roles and all of the stereotypes that come with them are taught, they're not inherent.
DD has plenty of trucks and trains and tools, and she plays with them just as much as she plays with her princesses and purses.
But, the stroller I bought her off amazon comes in Blue for this very reason! :]

At Christmas C was pushing my niece's toy stroller around the house and loving it. I would have no problem getting him one to push his animals around in. my DH might have an issue with that though.
