Breastfeeding

which breast pads should I buy?

Trying to get things ready for when baby 2 arrives. I used the reusable pads when i breastfed DS but i think the constantly having to wash them contributed to my stress and eventual switch to formula. So this time I want to use disposables but there's many out there. Which ones do you use or recommend?

  • I think the lansinoh are softest. The medela ones are super rough and scratchy.

  • I use the medela. I was leaking ALOT when milk came in, and still leak a fair amount now at 4 weeks pp. I like that these soak up the milk and wick it away from my nipples. The milk feels like a gel in the pad, honestly reminds me of a diaper when it gets peed in! Hope you find some that work well for you!!!

  • I never like how the Lansinoh pads were always crinkly, I never felt like i got them them to lay flat.  I really liked the shape of the Johnson and Johnson pads, and they are a little cushier, which was really comforting in the first few weeks.

YES! The Johnson and Johnson are my favorite. They are not as large as the Lansinoh ones and they are curved so they fit very well.

  • I like the Target up and ups best. I've tried every brand at target and Walmart and that's what I've stuck with.

  • When I was leaking a lot in the beginning, I loved the Avent overnight nursing pads but they were hard to find.  I've used Lansinoh and like those and I just recently bought Target Up & Up brand and like those, too.

  • I leaked right through the Johnson & Johnson ones in the beginning - I'd even double them up with a wool reusable back and still leak through my shirt! I eventually tried the Lansinoh and like them so much better. They are crinkly, but they absorb very nicely and I've never once leaked through (though, thankfully, I don't leak as much anymore).
