Bday Party Activities/Games?

Hi all,

Just here planning away the birthday party and having trouble thinking of what games to have for kids. So far I have face painting, bouncer and a photo portrait booth on the list. Will this be enough or should I add a game?? TIA

Re: Bday Party Activities/Games?

  • We aren't doing any games. Besides LO there will only be 1 other kid. Who might not even be there. But I think depending on how many kids you have that is plenty. A lady in my playgroup did a bounce house for her kids party and all the kids spent their time in there and didn't do much else.

  • Wow. You already have way more than I have and probably will ever have. :)

No games here but DD is pretty much the only kid going to be there.

  • Will there be a lot of older kids there, or varying ages? How about printing off some coloring sheets (maybe that go with the party theme) and giving the kids new packs of crayons as a favor? You could also set up a scavenger hunt around the house that they can have a race to complete. GL!

  • Sounds like plenty!  Something my cousin did at her baby's first birthday party (where there were a lot of 1 year olds and toddlers) was fill an inflatable baby pool with play balls to make a "ball pit".  My son (who was about 15 mo at the time) and the other cousins had a lot of fun and it kept them kind of "contained" so we didn't have to follow them all around crawling.  I thought that was a great idea!  I just had my son's trucks in the middle of the floor for little guys to push at my oldest's 1st bday.

Depending on the ages of kids you are inviting, organized games don't really go over too well with little ones.  We had "Pin the caboose on the train" at my 3 yo's party and the boys would've all rather just kept playing with his toys.  There was always one of them in the potty or having a tantrum, etc. etc.

  • We will have kids varying in age from 6mos to 7 years old.  We plan on playing Pin-the-Tale on the Donkey, "Hot Potato" - Kids pass a wrapped present around while music plays and when the music stops if it is in their lap they are out... one by one until one kid remains and then they get the present.  We will also do some type of craft but I'm not sure what yet.  I saw a cool thing online where you can turn the glass baby food jars into votive candle holders.

    Good idea! Thanks.

Yes ladies, I'm having kids with in the ages of 6mos-9yrs. so its pretty tough. But I'm sure the older kids will be busy jumping away in the bouncer house. Thanks for advice!

  • I'm ordering a pinata that has ribbons to pull instead of bashing it. The kids at the party will be a big range so I thought that would be something fun for all of them. After that they are going to have to entertain themselves.
