Delivery day playlist for IPOD

I'm sitting here trying to make a playlist of songs I know are relaxing/meaningful for me and I'm tearing up! The mere thought of the actual day gets me so emotional...every. single. time. Even talking/singing to the baby gets me choked up!

Anyone else getting emotional like this? Are you putting together a musical compilation to listen to? I think about hearing my sweet baby's cry for the first time and just about burst into tears!

Re: Delivery day playlist for IPOD

  • I've been super emotional when it comes to anything dealing with baby.  I cried watching the 33 week video on the bump lol.  I happened to be flipping through channels and caught snooki's birth -- that made me cry, and scared me thinking about how close I am to being in the same situation! Actually, now that I think of it, everything is making me emotional now! I cried at the clydesdale commercial during the Superbowl! I am ready for this baby to be here!

  • I just want to say : Don't spend too much time on your playlist because you probably won't use it.  It is a nice idea but I don't know anybody who actually listened to music during labor .
  • Putting the list together has been simple and nontime consuming. Music has always been a very powerful calming/distracting thing for me at many points in my life including incredibly physically painful ones. Even if most don't ever use music for labor, I'd be hard pressed to not have something at least available to me. To each his or her own I guess.

  • I can totally relate to the emotions!! I just had a good crying spell because our crib was just delivered. If I see a puppy, I cry. Any commercials on TV relating to military overseas, I cry. I booked the photographer for our newborn pictures yesterday and started crying when I was telling her about some of the specific pictures I wanted. It's really getting a bit ridiculous at this point. And when I'm not tearing up, I get the giggles. Bad. I don't think I have the emotional strength to put together a playlist of songs that are meaningful to me!

  • I know I'm going to  include "Push It" - Salt N Pepa, "Ring of Fire" - Johnny Cash and "I Wanna Be Sedated" - Ramones in my own personal playlist.  Stick out tongue

  • I am putting together my playlist now, but since I am going for another NB. My playlist is totaly a bunch of song that will amp me up for the hard work ahead and get me though it. Its alot of workout music. Music has always been an escape for me so hopefully this time will be no different

This is me as well.  With DS I let DH make the playlist...he did a pretty poor job (the nurses were commenting on how rare it was to hear Sinatra in the birthing suites).  This time, going with a workout mix.  Have a classical music/soothing playlist if I decide I need a change of pace.

Our hospital has IPod speakers in every room, and I believe that is one of the first things my DH set up when we were admitted, not knowing how long we were going to be there.
