Can you...

Feel your uterus early when you are having twins? I'm about 9 weeks and my uterus feels about 17 weeks. Has anyone else experienced this and turned out to be twins? My first appt is next week, but I'm just so curious about this!

Re: Can you...

  • My fundal height measurements didn't really get much larger than a singleton pregnancy until later 2nd tri... At 38w, I was measuring 49w...

  • Possibly. At 18w, I was measuring at 25.

  • I have a 13 month old, so I've felt it before. I've also been researching where your uterus should be at different times in your pregnancy.
  • Subsequent pregnancies usually make you bigger faster, especially since you just had a baby 13 months ago. The only way to know how many are in there is with an ultrasound. I would never have guessed I was having two at any point in my pregnancy. Well, maybe the last few weeks...

Having been pg before and "research" doesn't make you qualified to measure fundal height.  If you are truly 9w pg, even if it was twins, the fundal height would not be measuring 17w.  You're just going to have to stick it out and wait for the OB appt.  Good luck.

Woah rude.... I obviously am aware that I will not know anything for sure until my appt. I was simply asking for the opinions of those who have been pregnant with twins! My main concern is that I could have some kind of growth or something far less precious than a beautiful baby.

She was not rude.  You came and asked a board of women who are and have all been pregnant with twins or more.  If you are seriously concerned you need to call your OB and have it checked, not ask a bunch of internet strangers.  Mrs.Lee is very correct, even with twins you would not be "measuring" that far ahead at 9 weeks.  Good luck.

  • At 12 weeks I was measuring about 20 weeks, but there are other causes. We thought our dates were off or I had a fibroid, never thought twins until the u/s. Best bet is to get an u/s.
