I put Max down for his nap today and of course Gray started crying. So, I told M that I would be right back after I got G. I had the monitor on and M was being really quiet, so I thought to myself, "Hmmm, maybe this kid will finally put himself to sleep." Wrong.
Less than 5 minutes later with not a sound on the monitor I hear him wiggling his door knob. I opened the door to see him standing there looking as proud as could be and signing "all done." He had also turned off his sound machine. Little shiit.
Now hubs and I have to talk sleeping situations - toddler bed? Not excited with a new baby and hubs being out of town for two weeks next month.
Re: And we have a crib jumper. FML.
Can you just go with crib mattress on the floor with a side-rail from Target?
At least for the time being he's safely on the floor, and you don't have to spend money on a toddler bed. IMO, they're just a waste of money. Hank's almost outgrown his, and we have had it 1.5 years. I wish we'd have skipped the Thomas bed and gone straight to a twin mattress on the floor with a side-rail. Just my ever so humble opinion.
I cannot believe that I have gotten so lucky. Neither one of my boys have ever climbed out. ::knocks on wood::
That's kind of along the lines of what we were originally thinking. The only reason we would consider a toddler bed is due to space issues in his room and the fact that unless we move this summer, he and Gray are going to have to share a room. Ikea has some cheaper beds that would work, especially if he passes it down to Gray. I'm surprised it took him this long to figure it out!
No kidding!
Three days ago, M was not settling down for her nap. She sounded...weird...on the monitor, like she was struggling or lifting something heavy. When I checked the video feed, she was fully planking across the 90* corner of the crib!
I made it upstairs before she went over the edge, and she jumped back down into the crib when she heard me open the door. I thought she might forget about it entirely, but to my dismay, she tried to climb out right in front of me the next day when I put her down for her nap. ::sigh::
We're also going with the twin mattress on the floor. We actually already have it set up in her room, just hadn't started because (a) her dresser needs to be secured to the wall, and (b) I'm a chickenshiit and love my nighttime sleep. She wasn't jumping out when we set it up, but now it looks like I have no choice but to forge ahead with the transition.
Don't you know they have a radar for when you're going to be on your own? That's when they decide to change things up on you and do the unexpected
DS escaped a few weeks ago at 3:45am. Somehow he stuck the landing but that thud still gives me nightmares.
We tried the twin mattress on the floor and he hated it. After a week, we got a Mickey toddler bed at BRU for $32. He has had a few nights on the floor, but generally LOVES his bed. In fact, sleeps an extra hour overnight. Best $32 ever spent.
Good luck!
Oh noooooo! Scary!
Also I love the name Grayson! Since I already have a Max, maybe I'll copy you on that one too some day LOL!
Boooo! Talk about poor timing, too.
I agree with going with a mattress directly on the floor.
Also, when we switched DD1 (she suddenly started crib diving, too) to her bed (read: mattress on the floor), we bought a gate that could be used on her door even when it was closed. That way, we didn't have to leave her bedroom door open all the time.
Love it!!
