Washing plush/soft toys

How do you wash plush toys so that they're safe for LO to put in his mouth?  I know it's probably not recommend that they chew on soft toys but it's inevitable.  He puts everything in his mouth.

    I just wash them in the washing machine with other laudry. If they are hard and plastic then I put them in the dishwasher.

    I have placed many a stuffed toy in the washing machine with my daughter's clothing. I have also soaked plush toys (mostly the kind that have soft and hard pieces on them and probably won't go through the washing machine well) in the tub with water and a small amount of bleach. I just make sure to thoroughly rinse the toys after soaking.

    Maybe this is a stupid question but it's ok for him to chew on them after they've been washed in the detergent?
