well now i'm sobbing. thanks for sharing, this is so so heartbreaking.
Sorry! It made me start crying at work. But I just think it's so important that people see the things you don't even think about to keep your baby safe.
Ahhh!!!! This story has been making the rounds in the mommy groups I am in but I have been avoiding reading it because I just can't. My friends have given me the run down on what it is about and I am making the necessary changes to DS's room. Anyway, I didn't realize this was THAT story so I read the first paragraph and then closed it. I can't even imagine nor do I want to even try to.

I'm at work too, totally did the "I'm looking at these notes here..." while I wiped the tears from my eyes. The way she writes about it you can just imagine being exactly in her shoes and it's heart wrenching. I just called DH still sobbing to tell him we need to secure every item in our house.
Yes, someone here posted it a couple of months ago...CharlotteJ, maybe. Anyway, I promised myself I would tether all dangerous furniture to the walls after reading it because this mom is so devoted to spreading her/her daughter's story.
That is a very difficult post to read, but the overwhelming love and survival her Mom has gone through after the loss is inspiring. I have a twin bother too. Thank you for posting and I will pay more attention to safety devices/latches for the home.
Well Im just going to avoid the article since it is so sad, but I can see that if is about a dresser or something falling on a child. It is a terrible thing to have happen. I have a friend whose 6yr old daughter pulled her dresser and tv down on her. She survived but they made the proper changes to keep it from happening again. But I think alot of furniture is coming with anchors now to help prevent these type of things from happening. If Im not mistaken I think the dresser for my nursery furniture has an anchor. If so I will be using it.
Well, that was heartwrenching - I was a blubbering mess after the first paragraph. Probably didn't help that I'm a momma to a 2 year old girl and thinking that could happen to us was just too much. We are switching her room soon, and will be adding brackets to her dresser. She's not a climber, per se, but I feel it's only a matter of time before she does try to get on her dresser.

I have my own three year old DD. Words can't express the internal horror I felt as I read this and pictured myself in this mother's shoes.
My furniture is secured to the wall, thank god.
Thank you for sharing this- it's an important safety measure that's unintentionally overlooked by very loving and good parents.
