Baby carrier for overweight dad

I'm looking for recommendations for a baby carrier that my husband will be able to use. He tried the Ergo on in store and it wouldn't fit around his waist. He's over 6 feet tall, about 285 lbs. He wears a size 40 in pants.

Any suggestions? He was really disappointed when we were at BRU and I really would like to make this work for him. I've heard of extenders for the Ergo but have yet to hear from anyone who has actually used them.

Did he try the Ergo Sport? My understanding is that it's designed for people with larger frames.

My DH is 6'1" and about 270lbs (working on that...). We have the Ergo Sport and ours came with the extender. He doesn't always need it, but it does make it fit during the larger times.

The ergo has a waist extension belt and it is super cheap, just another reason why I love ergo!

Yup! We got the Ergo Sport and the waist extender. He can *almost* get by without the extender but we're glad to have it.

As pp said there is the waist extender. Also the Ergo Performance is a slightly roomier carrier with a longer belt and shoulder straps that work well for a lot of bigger guys.

We are both 6 feet tall (though thin) and we love the Ergo sport. It is especially nice when your baby grows and gets heavy because the weight is on your hips. However the Baby Bjorn is great for smaller babies and there is no hip belt. It goes around your shoulders. So maybe that would fit? Also the Moby is just fabric so it is really adjustable. But I have to say that I think most men don't like the Moby because it takes awhile to put on and looks too much like a fashion accessory
