Does your LO have a security blanket/toy/item?

Mine does- G has a  little blanket that calms her down, helps her sleep and loves to drag around. She wears it around her head, tickles her nose with the corners and cant sleep without it.

I left it at moms yesterday and guess who was up till 930 waiting for grandma to come deliver it? God bless mama(grandma).

What does your LO have?

  • Big ol' nada.  I didn't do that on purpose.  They just don't take to things like I hoped they would.

  • Not really. Lj does have a Mickey Mouse that she likes to carry around but she doesn't have to have it. Nb goes crazy without his blankly. One time when he was sick he took 5 different blankets into the doctors office.

  • DD has the Mimicking Monkey from Cloud B and loves it.  She can go to sleep without it, but prefers not too.  She's taken to grabbing monkey and a blanket from her crib when we go get her in the morning and sitting in her highchair with both of them.

  • Ty has a lovey that he pretty much only has during nap (at home) and night.  He doesn't have one at my grandma's (she watches him every day).  Sometimes he carries it around at home, but not often.

He does love snuggling on it though, it's really cute!

  • Both boys have lovies. Liams is an owl that we call Owlie and Jacks is a tiger that he calls Tig or Tiggie.

I always fed them even as little teeny babies and would give them their blankies to hold. They always had them in their carseats too. I think they got used to having the blankets around and now they can't live without them.

  • Yup.  It's a weird one too: those 4" inflatable balls like the kind you win at arcades and stuff.  She asks for it all the time but especially during car rides and right when she gets to school.

  • We have the FP Snugamonkey and multiple lovies all called "Douglas". We have 2 monkeys and about 6 lovies just in case one is ever lost! Around 7 months, I started giving them to him every time I nursed him. I am so glad he took to them, because he goes down easily without me nursing him before bed, on the rare night out! Now he brings them to us when he's getting tired and ready for bed. When I am around, nursing him, my left nipple is his security blanket. It's a pretty annoying habit, and when I tell him no, he just puts his hand down my pants. Most of the time I don't mind the fiddling, but every now and then he gives it a good pinch.

  • Yep, she has her little Mickey and a recieving blanket. We call her Linus because she's always dragging it around. She will not sleep without either. Unfortunately the blanket is white and it's really starting to look bad.

Maybe she meant HIS pants? Right? I mean, right?!
  • Sort of.  She doesn't "need" them until she's tired, but she absolutely cannot sleep without her pacifier, her Boing-Boing (a stuffed bunny) and a blanket (any blanket will do).

I don't know. It's really weird, whatever she means.

Given the context, I'd say replace "pants" with "shirt".  Makes more sense then, lol.

Only I totally can't stand my bewbs being fiddled with so I would so not be okay with that habit, hahaha.

  • Nothing in particular.  She seems to suddenly be forming fleeting attachments to various toys and stuffed animals, but there's not one item that she HAS to have.  One day it's a stuffed sheep, the next day she can't lay down without her little people princess in bed with her.  It cracks me up!

  • Yes!! He has a jelly cat kitty that he has been attached to since about 12 weeks. He will NOT go to sleep without it. God forbid we even think about it. He freaks out when he is in crib and kitty isn't there yet because I can't find her.
  • Chase has a Jake stuffed animal(from Jake and the never land pirate show) that he loves and takes with him in the car and will drag it around the house but he doesn't sleep with it.

  • L has a grey bunny rabbit that he just adores Smile sleeps with him and he drags it around with him. Now there are times he needs to get wash but L does not freak out but as soon as he gets it back he bites its face and like he has to get his scent on it lol.

Any blanket he sleeps with until it needs to be washed he drags with him. So he loves his blankets too.

Thank you for reminding me why I rarely frequent this board. I won't waste my time over here anymore.

  • C'mon Winomama, this is one of the most tame boards around. You have to admit, most people would do a double take at that.

I'm with Shanado. I mean, didn't I see you post over on Parenting? If you've been hanging out there, then you know Shanado is right bout this being a very tame board.

  • And to asnwer Gillie's question: sort of.

DD2 has a lovey and a doll that she sleeps with. I give them to her right before I put her down. She will hug her baby doll tight and she will bury her face in her lovey. Once she's down in her crib though, she usually just tosses the doll aside. The lovey she seems to hold on to. But still, she doesn't bring either item to daycare and doesn't usually seem to mind when one goes missing.

DD1 has a favourite doll and stuffed animal, and she won't be happy if she has to go to bed without either of them BUT if I tell her she has to make do without them, she doesn't put up much of a fight (thank goodness)

  • For what it's worth.

There were no typos in my original post. You made me feel ashamed, and even dirty that you all laughed and just assumed I meant something else. Obviously, those who laughed have never nursed a toddler, or you would know how they constantly fiddle during nursing, and how much more dexterity they have. We nurse in a side-lying position before nap and bed, and he has easy access to my pants. To set the record straight, if DS's hands start to drift down to my stomach, I always stop him. I do not let him put his hands down my pants.

  • He doesn't NEED anything to sleep, maybe at least 1 blanket but he's not particular. He does love his bunny, but he's slept without it.
