Holla! :]

It's been a hectic week here. G has been a little stinker to her Grammie, who has been watching her while I work. I'm nervous because she'll be going to another family member starting next week and she's a pill for everyone except me and DH. I just hate to think she's crying while I'm at work.

G started rolling multiple times to follow SD around. She doesn't go that far, but it's soooo fun to watch!

Craziest thing ever? Probably going on Further tour in '98. Haha, I was quite the little hippie as a teen. For anyone who doesn't know, Further Festival headlines the band members from the Grateful Dead. So I started in Cali, and drove, literally, around the US on money I made selling water and beer on the lot. Crazy....yes. Unforgettable....absolutely. So glad I got the crazies out before DS and DD!

And the biggest, saddest challenge of all...we have to re home my dog. Lexi went after Nicole last night. The baby is fine - it was just a scratch - but it was terrifying for all involved and the 'what ifs'. She was a rescue dog and had been abused before I adopted her 5.5 years ago. It pains me greatly to have to give her up. At least my parents have offered to watch her for a few weeks while we find a new forever home for her.

I'm sorry, that stinks. I'm sure you will find her a perfect new home.

Things have been going well, we're starting to get into a groove (as much as you can with an almost 6 week old)! LO had an appt last week and is already 11 pounds, 15 ounces! (He was 9 pounds, 6 ounces at birth). I can't believe how big he is!

BF is going well though he seems to prefer the right side, as do I. It seems like he is more comfortable and had a better latch there. Working on getting the left side as natural.

We are still dealing with the REALLY loud grunting, moaning, crying from 5 am to about 7 am. The funny thing is that he is asleep but sounds like he is in so much pain Not sure if its from gas/trying to have a bowel movement or just being tired of being in his RNP. He's a big boy so I'm not sure if he just wants to stretch out and feels too confined after the entire night? But when I try putting him in bassinet or crib he wakes right up and cries.

GTKY: Wow, I'm pretty boring...hmm let's see. I guess I am more of a play it safe girl. I have gone snowboarding and scuba diving but I wouldn't call any of those crazy. I guess most of my crazy moments happened while drunk in college! haha

Hello ladies!!

Nothing too new here! DD is really interested in the kitties now!! The cats are more scared than anything so I'm sure once she starts crawling I'm waiting for that to happen any day now since she is almost ready the kitties will be hiding!!!
I'm pretty boring lol I was prob a lol crazy in college drinking but nothing major. I'm predictable and it's hard to get me to do new things although I'm getting better lol

Good Morning!

This week we are going to try peas! Exciting, I know. Green beans went down without any problems but oatmeal was a no go. The dog wouldn't even eat it so I don't blame Jake one bit.

We took away the paci last week and things couldn't be better. He sleeps about 7 hours at night now. Yay for both of us.

My PAL mind still gets the best of me. There was a sad news story last week about a 4 mo old who died while napping at daycare. Probably SIDS but there hasn't been a follow up story. Between that and reading some posts about babies setting off their sleep monitors I am forced to check on Jake A LOT while he sleeps.

Craziest thing I've done? I got nothin'. I'm not much of a risk taker. Maybe zip lining in Mexico? The zip line was a lot of fun but the ride into the mountains was damn scary. The "road" was very narrow and we were in the back of a truck (bench seats - shoulder to shoulder) so it was easy to see the road that wasn't really there.

Hi ladies!

DD is starting to smile now. It is so cute! My current issues have to do with her drop in feeding length and time. I posted something on the BFing board about it last night. She did eat more today so hopefully she was just going through a phase.

I am a pretty tame person...I guess the craziest thing I did was to go downhill skiing at Mont Tremblant in Quebec with no downhill experience. I am an avid cross country skier so I had a general idea of what downhill skiing was like. I did not take lessons and did the green slope for a while and got too confident so I decided to try the blue slope. Big mistake, LOL!

Another crazy thing was climbing the dome of St Peter's in Rome on a hot July afternoon, all by myself, on an empty stomach. I nearly passed out!

Love these wild and crazy stories, ladies!

Hiya! Finally getting time to join in on this!
Oh man, they are just CRANKY! Is this like a thing? They have two modes: Asleep, and crying most of the time. Today was a bit better but it's been rough.
Funny.. well Ruby is trying to roll and frustrated as hell. Autumn is trying to suck her thumb but is still rocking the newborn fists, so also frustrated. They sound like Miss Piggy about to karate chop someone when they can't do what they want! I'm in so much trouble since they're JUST like me. We've taken to calling Henry "Meanwhile" because the girls will be losing it, and we look over and Henry is patiently waiting his turn/playing with a toy/smiling/snoozing.
Craziest. Hm. I guess crazy fun would be National Novel Writing Month. Every November I get together with my writing group and we each bang out 50,000 words of new fiction. It's awesome. This was the first year since 2007 I haven't done it, and I missed it a lot (but of course I've been a little busy!)

Your daughters as Miss Piggy was so funny I read it out loud to DH.

I do NaNoWriMo, too! I've never finished (I need more like a year to finish a novel, shamefully), but every year I try. But I didn't get to this last year, either, and it makes me sad.

On that note, some happiness in the way of a funny story: Nicole started kissing the baby in the mirror this morning. So cute!
GTKY: I seek out class IV and V rapids for white water rafting. Or class III in an inflatable kayak; never got the hang of real kayaking.

So. Awesome. This makes me think of Freaks and Geeks

DD continues to be a hilarious rolling/pivoting/swiveling machine. We also decided to give her some carrots the other day, as I'm getting antsy pants about waiting until six months to start BLW, especially since she seems so interested when we're eating. So I roasted one and cut it into manageable little "sticks" and after dropping two on the floor, DD got one in her mouth! And proceeded to nom away. She didn't bite off or swallow anything, but seemed to enjoy the process. If I could only get DH to chill about it a little... I'm worried he's going to stress her out or pressure her, which is not what BLW is about. Why must I always be picking my battles?!

I started doing live action roleplay when I was in college, and played up until I was pregnant (there's boffer weapon combat, and I didn't want to risk falling, etc.). It's basically like live action Dungeons & Dragons or World of Warcraft, where you play a game, completing quests and stuff, pretending to be a fantasy character for a whole weekend with a whole bunch of other people doing the same thing. It's insanely fun if you never properly grew up. I'm actually playing this coming weekend after a year away, and a little nervous my postpartum butt won't be able to keep up!

Annabelle has been sleeping in her RnP for days! It's so exciting that she is finally sleeping somewhere other than in our bed and that she has been doing it consistently for days! Unfortunately she's been trying to get us to bed earlier and earlier. It started off that if we didn't get her to bed or at least working on it by 9-9:30 she'd turn into a terror screaming non stop, now it seems that isn't early enough for her any more and yesterday she started getting cranky at 8! Before we were just going up to bed when she needed to and we'd just sit in bed and watch tv for a while after she fell asleep but now that she wants to go to bed so early I'm thinking I may just go up and get her to sleep and go back down stairs but I am disappointed because that first stretch of the night tends to be her longest and I am not quite willing to go to bed at 8ish just to get 4 hours of sleep in a row.

She's also having her 2 month appointment on Thursday at 6 weeks. Her doctor said we could do it two weeks early so she can get her first shots before we travel to Chicago next week. I'm excited for the trip but nervous about her first flight and trying to keep her happy/comfortable with limited items since we won't be taking everything with us on a plane. I keep telling myself that women took care of their babies for years without swings, play mats, etc so I will be ok.

I'm pretty boring so I haven't really done anything too crazy. For me I think that us moving to another state where we didn't have any friends or family was pretty crazy especially since I had only moved about 25 miles in my life before we came to AZ and DH had only moved about a mile.

Milestones: L is able to stand on her own while holding onto the baby gate! I'm so proud!! She's really working on her balance. She also finally got the hang of the sippy cup last night. For the longest time she'd stick the spout in her mouth, but didn't really get what she was supossed to do with it. After she figured it out, she was so into it that she didn't want to finish her dinner!

Challenges: She has some dry skin in her cheeks and I don't know what to put on it. Everything I've tried either makes her red or makes her break out. I think I need to look for something for extra sensitive skin. It's weird because the rest of her body has been fine with everything I've put on her, it just seems to be her face.

GTKY: I'm pretty boring and haven't really done many crazy things. I guess I need to learn to live a little!

Oh man! I always wanted to go to Blizzcon. I'm not really playing WoW anymore (no time, and Pandas, meh) but it just looked like such a blast!! I haven't been to Dragon Con, but a friend of ours went and loved it! She cos-played Caprica Six the whole weekend haha.

Dragon*Con is nerd heaven. If you're into it, there's a whole heap of people who are into it, too, and dressed up, and organizing programming, and ready to geek out. The year I went I was a steampunk Star Trek science officer all weekend. This year I think I'm going to do Rose Tyler (if I can find a decent wig) and probably Lady Lovelylocks with my two friends

DD got really chappy for awhile so we started putting aquaphor on her after her bath every night. I don't know if that would help?

DS was having this problem because of all the drool from teething. The company that makes Butt Paste also makes an infant lip balm for chapped lips and cheeks. I put some on his cheeks before bed and by the next morning it was almost completely gone!

DS is doing so well at sitting up. About a week ago it was like he just figured it out, and now he acts like he has been doing it forever. He has also managed to get up on all fours a few times, so I don't think crawling will be too far away.

GTKY: I guess the riskiest thing was hiking around on an active volcano, seems cool until I realized how dangerous it really is. I was inches away from putting my foot in fresh lava (it had glazed over so quickly after being extruded I didn't see it) Luckily someone did and literally pulled me back or I would be missing my right foot.

I have also been skinny dipping in pretty much most bodies of water I have been in - Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, Lake Michigan, a few rivers. I'm really kind of conservative so this is way out there for me, but after I did it a few times in my young and stupid days I felt the need to keep adding to the list. I'm definitely shy, and by no means an exhibitionist, so mostly it is fun figuring out how to pull it off without getting caught!
