Columbia shower location recs

Sorry, I know this has been asked before...

A friend and I are throwing a baby shower in about 5 weeks.  We're a little behind in finding a location because the mom-to-be has been delayed in getting us an invite list, so we weren't sure how many people we were looking to accommodate.  We still don't have that number, but we need to find a place.

We're looking at the Columbia area (we all live in southern Howard county).  Mine was at Cafe de Paris, and it was great, but we are trying not to just do a repeat of mine (the mom-to-be and other hostess were the hostesses for mine).

  • For some reason, I thought you were in Harford County. I'm in Ellicott City/Columbia. There are rooms you can rent through the Columbia Association for all sorts of different rates. Some are on the cheaper side, some on the more expensive side. We rented the Meeting Room in Clarksville last year for C's birthday.

We used the same room for J's birthday. It was maybe $75 plus purchasing the insurance. Well worth it if you're going to have a lot of people.

  • Thanks, everyone. We actually have the problem of not having enough people. We got the list and there will be a maximum of 14 and many of the places we looked at had minimum purchases that we were going to have a hard time meeting, or they were just crazy expensive. Because we dont actually need that much space, I think we're going to give up on restaurants and just use my house. For what some places cost, we'll be able to bring in some nice food and get a cute cake.
