***sparkles41*** / Hypothyroidism

I have hypothyroidism (diagnosed over a decade ago) and manage it with daily levothyroxine. Eating an anti-inflammatory diet (i.e. cutting out/down on gluten), make sure you aren't iodine deficient, look into selenium supplements, and get enough exercise are all good things to consider. There a specific food lists to eat/avoid, but these are the basics.

  • You're welcome. Mine was within range a couple months before our bfp cycle, then after my bfp it was high. I increased my does and had it re-checked at 8 weeks, better but still high. I increased my dose again and just had it re-checked at 12 weeks and it's normal. I'll have it checked again at 16-18 weeks and go from there. My endo's office reassured me and said as long as you're aware of it and treating it accordingly, it should all be fine. Stress is not good in pregnancy, so I took their word and just get it checked and increased as needed.

One more thought, make sure it's checked near/after birth as it can impact milk supply. Then have it checked again 6-8 weeks postpartum if possible to make sure it's still in range.

  • I had very slight hypothyroidism with my first pregnancy.  I also took levothroxyin and it was fine.  FWIW, with this pregnancy I don't have any signs of having it.  Every time I am tested my levels are fine.
