I know all babies are different but just wondering what your 3 month olds are doing? Rolling over, holding things, swatting for things? I have gotten baby center emails saying that most three month olds are doing this but mine doesn't even seem to be close :-(
i feel like maybe I am not stimulating him enough or something. I also have two year old so I a still working on balancing the two.
Re: What is lo up to?
E only rolls to his side and maybe to his stomach once and a while. I think It's just because he's so round. He loves grabbing at the dog and pulling the hair, but mostly he will only kick and hit the toys.
I think Baby Center is saying this is what should be happening in the third month.
Try to remember that all babies develop at their own pace. As long as your pedi isn't concerned you are fine!
B will be 3 months on Saturday and is not at all interested in rolling. He is very involved in his toys though and will hold on to and shake them all day long.
I am the same - its hard to just put LO down for tummy time in the middle of the room because then I have to police DD and keep her from smothering her or walking over her. That said, she seems to have no real interest in rolling. She sometimes swats at things and she just started grabbing my hair and neck - no toys yet though.
V is smiling, cooing, "talking" in response to me. He enjoys being read to and looks intently at the pictures when he is interested. He will make eye contact and try to imitate any face you make at him. He enjoys singing songs with me and laughs when I do the hand motions with his hands.
We are close to a giggle but not quite there yet.
He does swat at toys and in the last two weeks has begun to grab them. He doesn't know what to do when he doesn't want to hold them anymore though! He gets all agitated and you have to undo his hand! Very funny!
He is rolling to his side and kicking his legs way up. That's the extent so far. Doesn't seem ready to roll yet.
I read those emails and the What to Expect Book...but they DO make me crazy if my LO isn't doing it! I take solace in the fact the my pedi says V is doing GREAT!
She kicks her toys but doesn't seem real interested in using her hands yet. Except for as chew toys, to pull out her paci, or to pinch me while nursing. :P
Rolling over, not so much. He did it once on Sunday night. He loathes tummy time, so it's not something I worry about.
Lately, he is very amused by blowing spit bubbles. He's been talking a lot for a few weeks. He doesn't seem that interested in music or books, or pulling himself up.
Like everyone said, all babies are different. I try to find things that he enjoys doing based on the developmental milestones, but I try not to be neurotic about forcing him to like things that he doesn't...can be easier said than done!
Parker is reaching for toys, bats at them and will hold them if you give him a chance to get his fingers around it- (like the O-Ball). He does a lot of smiling, 'talking', and is almost letting out a giggle. It's so close.
Rolling doesn't seem to be on his agenda. He's perfectly content on his back, but tummy time only works for at most 10 minutes or so before he gets mad and frustrated, even if you are down there with him. He seems to be close to doing tummy to back if he gets mad enough to push himself over. He CAN lift his head to almost 90 degrees while on his tummy, but he doesn't do it often. He doesn't seem to want both of his hands up by his face to push up that way.
I'm trying not to compare and worry about what he is or isn't doing. It's hard though.
Mine ended up being a December baby so he just turned two months over the weekend but he's already at the very least starting all of the things you mentioned. He rolls over when he's on the couch and he's getting really close to being able to when he's on his play mat doing tummy time. He'll swat at the toy bar in his bouncy seat but that's a very recent development and I'm not sure it's a conscious thing on his part. While I was playing with him this morning I gave him a rattle and he held onto it after I put it in his hand but he didn't seem to know to grip it until I put his fingers around the grip bar.
Just remember, every baby really is different! Love on him and play with him as often as you can and he'll develop those skills in his own time

Baby K has mastered batting at things and grabbing with his left hand -- still working on the right. He can find his fingers and is just starting to put everything in his mouth. He's a big time smiler and just started laughing yesterday (best sound in the world!). He did roll over front to back -- but just one time a couple of weeks ago. Calling it a fluke. I'm not too worried though -- he has great head control and can do little baby pushups, so I'm sure it'll happen in due time. Likely at 3 a.m.
Sure your little man is doing great -- they all develop at their own pace.
