Stabbing pain around incision site? (updated)

I'm 38w3d, and about 2 weeks ago LO dropped. For a few days things felt a little tight around my scar, I assume as it stretched to accommodate LO's new, lower position. That was the first time I really felt anything with the scar during this pregnancy. Otherwise everything has been fine.

However, for the past 2-3 days, I've been getting stabbing pain in a line across/above the incision site whenever I stand up and try to walk. After about 1-2 minutes it usually goes away, but it really feels like someone is jabbing a knife into me and it often makes me suck in my breath in pain. Is that something to worry about?? Does anyone else have it? I forgot to ask my OB when I had my appt yesterday. :-/

ETA update:

If you're reading this post because you're having this kind of pain, too, then please go to L&D. Mine got worse, I went in, and it turned out my scar was starting to rupture. I had another c/s which, while it wasn't an emergency, was done as soon as DH could get to the hospital and they set a spinal.

  • I personally think that sounds normal,  but I would call to be sure.  My incision was starting to get sore, and baby hadn't dropped.  Plus, you are farther along in pregnancy than you have ever been, so that may be contributing.

Thanks. I have a call in to my MW, so we'll see what she says. I'm guessing it'll just be a grin and bear it kind of situation, but I want to make sure it's nothing to be concerned about. It's really, really painful.

  • I have been trying to send you a pm, but my iPad doesn't seem to want to.... Or you got it 8 times. Just wanted to see if everything was ok.
