Well, let's chat about the Super Bowl, actually...let's talk about 5 hours after the SB. I woke up to unbelievable pain on my left side and back. Nothing I've ever felt before. The pain was so bad... My hubby put me in the car and came back in the house to get our not-100%-made hospital bags...just in case. I was admitted into L&D and they started running tests and doing sonos to fing the proble. I can't stress the pain I was feeling. After 2 shots of nubain and a shot of demerol...my pain was finally manageable. I could actually speak in sentences. Basically, I have a large kidney stone (I get these often) and my kidney was not responding well.(that's the scary part) The medicine for my kidney worked well along with whatever else they were pumping into my IV. We are home now and exhausted...but LO's heart rate was good through the whole ordeal.
What we learned:
-Seriously, finish getting the hospital bags ready.
-When in extreme pain...I don't care who sees what or what isn't covered by those crazy hospital gowns.
-My doctor is now Saint status. She has been calling and texting me since we left...just checking on me.
-bring a hair tie and chapstick to the hospital...geez...these are to MUST have items...little nuggets of gold.
-Praise my husband for pulling a Shirley Maclaine moment in Terms of Endearment at one point telling the nurses I was still in so much pain.
Just needed to purge all that info on our exciting/not-so-much-fun Sunday night and Monday. Thanks girls!!
Re: Home from L&D... moral of the story
Wow - glad that you are feeling better now! I've passed a kidney stone and it is no fun at all... Can't imagine doing it while pregnant!
Hope the remainder of your pregnancy goes smoothly!
