If it took 8+months to get your period back PP...

I am 8 months post partum and still no period. I know this is normal, know every woman is different, and know I could be due for it at any time, but just curious, when did it come back for you, or, if it hasn't returned, how far PP are you? And, were you still nursing when it returned, or did it return once you stopped?

LO is almost 10 months, still so AF. Shawn nurses about 3-4 times/day and I began replacing his afternoon nursing with a bottle of formula about 6 weeks ago to start to wean. I had a Mirena put in at 8 weeks pp; dunno if that makes a difference but I'm not complaining!

With my first, I got my first period exactly two years after my last menstrual period. DS was about 15 months at the time. I was on the mini pill. I was slowly weaning at the time and quit pumping at work.

With DD1 I got it around 6 months.

DD2 is about 7.5 months now and knock on wood I haven't gotten my period yet.

With both girls I wasn't or am not on any hormonal birth control

AF returned for me at 11.5m PP. About 2-3w after I went down to only 2 nursing sessions per day.

I am 5 months and still no period. I thought I would have it by now since I have been breastfeeding and supplementing with formula since day 1. I'm not on any birth control pills either.

I never had a pp AF with Callum because I got pregnant around 17 months the first time I ovulated. Night weaning kick started ovulation.

Just had my first AF with Eleanor last month - took longer I think because I hadn't fully night weaned; she was 20 months.

Was still nursing quite a bit during the day in both cases.

no birth control either time. With DS it came back at 11 months pp (weaned at 10 months). Nothing yet with DD

DS1 it came back 7 months pp. We had started solids but he really didn't take to them til he was about 9 months.

DS2 it came back 11 months pp. We had been co sleeping and we stopped about a month earlier. He still nurses 3-4 times during the night though.

Oh and I never took the mini pill.

DD2 is nearly 13 months old, and I haven't gotten my period back yet.

Mine came back 1 day before my DD turned 9 months. I still nurse 4-5 times a day.

DS will be 8 months old on the 15th, and I still haven't had a postpartum period. I was on the minipill from 6wks until Jan 7th, and then switched to Mirena. I would not be disappointed at all if I didn't have another period until we decide to TTC for #2.

I nurse mornings, evenings, and on weekends and pump while I'm at work.

I was 8 or 9 months PP. I was still nursing but as I recall DD was starting to cut out some night sessions.

I'm glad you posted this b/c it's been on my mind too to see what is "normal."

My last period was April 2011. DS is 13 months old, and I am not on any BC. He nurses 4x per day (still once during the night) and pump 2x at work. So he's still getting quite a bit of milk.

I'm enjoying it and hoping it lasts!
