Breaking out! Help!

Hi ladies..every since I was PG....I MC'd mid December ... I can't get my face to stop breaking out. I didn't use anything while I pg , now that I'm not I've been using clearacil (sp?) ..I want to start using some all natural for when we TTC again. I have used alcohol (probably a horrible idea) and baking soda. I use the baking soda to exfoliate occasionally and sometimes leave it on as a paste. I look like I'm 16 again with my face looking so bad!!!

Anyone know of something natural that works and is safe during pregnancy?? Thanks!

  • instead of using alcohol,is best to use wicthazel, and the baking soda is fine.

  • Try tea tree oil. I have also made my own wash out of water, lemon and baking soda. Easy on the baking soda since it reacts with the lemon.  It also works really well.

  • I'm a lurker here and have been doing the oil cleansing method since early November. Oh my goodness it's amazing and my skin has never been better! I've trashed all my facewash bottles and just use water/washcloth between the nights I do the oil. Also most people say it got worse before it got better, but mine never got bad. Good luck!

  • Witch Hazel worked for me as well, it helped anyway.  I"m sorry, breaking out is the worst!  I mc'ed a month before I conceived my little guy and my skin was horrendous for a while.  It cleared up in the 2nd tri with him and now, for the first time in my LIFE it is clear pretty regularly.

This is all I use now.  I use it at night and a hot wash cloth in the morning.  Maybe coincidence because my hormones are level, but it's worth a shot, right?  And it's less than $5.  I hope you find your solution!

  • I use tea tree oil mixed with coconut oil, olive oil and baking soda
  • My little trick: strawberries. Just get a nice red one, cut it in half and rub the open side gently on your face, avoiding the area right around your eye. The juice will make you look like bloody mary, but that's good because it contains natural salicylic acid and folic acid, as well as vitamin C. All of these are essential for the healing of the skin.

If your breakout is light-mild or if your skin is sensitive/dry leave the juice on until it dries completely and then rinse with cool water and pat dry. Repeat 1-3 times per week.

If you have oily skin or a bad breakout then let the juice dry and sleep with it on your face. Maybe cover your pillow with a Tshirt or something dark so you don't get pink smears on your linens. Repeat daily or as often as you need.

Also, if you are getting regular breakouts, try not using any moisturizer before bed. I know it sounds strange, but adding moisture will make it harder for your skin to rebalance itself, and could keep the breakout cycle going. And don't be afraid to flout all so-called common sense advice to do what works best for you. (I only wash and moisturize my face once every three days, never with soap. Any more often than that and I peel like a banana! I have actually been yelled at by angry women insisting I am "doing it all wrong"!)
