Tdap for mom how long is it good?

I can't seem to find the answer to this. How long is the Tdap immunization good for adults? I had one either right before or after DD1, and remember not needing it when DS was born... But I can't remember if it's good for 3,5,6, or 10 years. Anyone know? TIA!

I think it depends upon the age at which was administered ... for adults it looks like if wasn't within last 10 years, will be reccomended to get again.

Thanks. I know the tetanus part of the shot is good for 10 years, but wasn't sure about the rest. Whooping cough has become so scary again I don't want to chance anything.

my midwife said 10 years but now they recommend it every time you are pregnant even if it's within that 10 year period

Teacher Clark:
The pertussis part of the vaccine loses it effectiveness sooner. I'm fairly certain I read 5 or 6 years.

A few months back there was something on the news about studies of the vaccine and how long this "newer" version of the whooping cough vaccine lasts ... something about the way they grow the vaccine or the strain they use.

My doctor ordered a lab test to check my blood for antibodies. It turned out I was no longer immune to German measles so I was given the MMR shot after LO was born. Everything else was still good.

this. ask them to run titers on your blood and see if its still in your system.
