3rd Trimester

34 weeks and feeling very tired

I must say up until this week I had been feeling just fine. I was able to do most things and not get tired easily in fact I would have more energy to do things. However this week I feel so tired, and sick. I mean i have a sore throat and cough at the moment so I suppose that is adding to the feeling but I am getting more tired lately. I feel like all i want to do is lay down in warm covers watch tv and sleep. But I have no time for that. This week is my baby shower and I have yet to finish preparing for it. Not to mention I have to finish washing my daughters clothing and get my maternity bag ready just in case something happens the bag will be ready to take to the hospital. -sigh- I think I feel mostly overwhelmed from all this. So here is my question. I am a FTM so I am wondering have any of you ladies ever felt or are currently experiencing these emotions at this time??

  • Same here. I'm just exhausted.  I have no idea how I'm going to make it 6 more weeks going to work.

  • Ugh.  Me too.  Also a FTM who just wants to stay in bed snuggled in my big down blanket most of the day (with the dog, of course!).  I still have all of February and most of March to get through.  Guess I shouldn't complain, though.  God forbid something happens with the baby and she has to come early.
  • I understand how you are feeling well with the overwhelmed and tired all the time and from the smallest tasks. My advice would be to make a list of everything that is a priority and just knock them out one at a time. And give in to the laying down and sleeping or watching t.v. it's hard work making a human from scratch! Like this morning I did two loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, and organized into piles all the fantastic baby shower loot we got then i was pooped so I took a 3 hour nap and now I plan to dry and hang all that laundry, and put away some of the loot with maybe a nap to follow.

Just take it one thing at a time you will make it.

  • Feeling the same way! And I have a bad upper respiratory infection that I had to go to urgent care for and get medication. I was wheezing and extremely short of breath from walking 5 feet to the bathroom and coughing up a lung. I had to call in sick for work yesterday, today and tomorrow which uses my sick time! I"m a nurse though and I'm constantly on the go adn there's no way I'd be able to run around for 12 hours and be able to breathe. Oh well, it's better for me to stay at home now and make sure baby stays in there longer than be at work and have something bad happen.
  • definitely understand its difficult to do a lot of things but i think taking a nap and doig stuff in between will help. as soon as I get off work ill probably go home take a nap and start on the things I have to do then probably take a nap again. It is true its better to be safe than sorry so i want to do everything I can to make sure my little one is growing nice and healthy inside of me.

  • I felt exactly the same starting last week!  I had a wonderful pregnancy thus far and then I felt like I was hit by a truck.  I have my days but mostly I really just relax as much as I can because I know it is only going to get harder.  I work almost 9 hours a day, do some errands (if needed) and then get on the couch and put my feet up.  Don't feel bad about taking it easy.  I did at first because I had so much to do and then I just gave in when my husband was yelling at me to sit on my butt and not do anything!  :)

  • I hear ya!! I'm 34 weeks as well and I am absolutely exhausted between the getting up at night 5 times to pee and hip pain trying to get comfortable sleeping I'm lucky if I get 4 full hours it seems just to wake up and go to work! Hang in there! We are in the home stretch

  • Totally get how you are feeling.  I'm 35 weeks and for the past 3 weeks I have felt so tired.  I can't seem to get anything done that I want to.  If I do some house chores, afterwards I have to take a 2 hour nap.  I guess getting up a million times to pee at night doesn't help.  Hang in there....hopefully we will all get a burst of energy soon!

  • This is me exactly! I am 35 weeks and hit the exhaustion stage last week.  On top of that, I woke up with a cold yesterday which is making me even worse off.  Working full time and preparing for baby is making me so tired...not to mention waking up 7 times a night to pee! It's horrible! However, we will get through it...somehow someway! Good Luck!
