I am not TTC baby #2 yet but probably in a few months and this question keeps weighing on me!
I hope some Canadian RCS moms can help me out!
After your first CS were you given the option of a RCS?Or are you required to have a trial of labor? Is the decsion made for you or do you have a choice?
If you are interested in VBAC did you find a lot of support from your Dr or OB?
My first I had a rough go of laboring and ended up with a CS after 30+ hours. They told me during surgery I was told I had a very small pelvis and the baby couldn't descend and due to scoliosis I had some other problems at delivery.
TIA!
Re: Canadian RCS Moms
If I had not moved and been able to keep the OB I had the LO1 my answer would be based on her clinic. She had a 12% CS rate and had told me that I would get my trial of labor OR we could schedule a RCS for 39 weeks during my next pregnancy. It was to be my choice unless there was a medical reason to push for the RCS (like another frank-breech baby).
With my new (family) doctor we will attempt a VBAC but it's highly unlikely that she'll be delivering LO2. I'll be recommended to another doctor later on in the pregnancy to better debate VBAC vs RCS.
From what I hear, having had a c/s is an indication for having a rcs. So if you want to go straight for a rcs you can ("medically necessary"). You can make your own decision re: rcs or trial of labour. You always have a choice w/r/t your medical care.
I had a MW who is of course supportive of a vbac.

I've had my second cs only fifteen months after the first one. My doctor would have been respectful of my choice, but I opted to go with a RCS because I didn't wait 2 years between cs. I didn't want to risk it and frankly, I was really scared of something going wrong with a vbac.
Now that I am pregnant again, doctors didn't offer me a choice. From my first appointement, I've known that I am going down that road again.
