No Braxton hicks yet? Normal?

So I am just about 5 weeks almost one month away from my due date of March 16th. I'm hearing lots about Braxton Hicks that they usually have already started or may be intensifying by now. I don't think I've felt anything that sounds like these at all. I know everyone is different and maybe it's still do early but I'm beginning to wonder if ill even know? Anyone else not really feeling much of anything going on? I've been very lucky that I've had an extremely easy and uneventful pregnancy and maybe this is just a continuation of that, just curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

Re: No Braxton hicks yet? Normal?

  • I'm right here with ya. I'm not due until the 30th but I also haven't experienced any braxton hicks. And, I have had the most uneventful pregnancy I think anyone can have. Which is great. But, sometimes im nervous that it's been too easy and that I will have the worlds worst labor or something! Ha.

  • I never had them or atleast noticed them last time and had DD at 37 weeks and went in 4cm dilated without feeling a thing.  This is my 2nd pregnancy and I think I might of had a few random ones but I'm still not sure :P  So no it's not odd to not feel them and it doesn't mean anything obviously since I went into labor without feeling a thing
  • I didn't feel any at all with DD. With this one, I feel very little. My labor was very smooth the first time, so I'm hoping for that again... BH or not. Lol.

  • With my first, I didn't feel a single contraction, Braxton Hicks or not, until I was 38w4d. DD was born the next morning.

It's possible I felt something and ignored it, but when I felt that first contraction, I knew what it was. I remember laying in bed, felt the tightening and thinking "Oh, so that's what a contraction feels like". 13 hours later, I was holding my little girl. ;-)

  • It is pretty uneventful on this end as well.  With DS1 at 30 weeks I was 3cm and never felt anything.  I was induced at 39 weeks (hypertension) and some days and by then had made it to 4cm.  This time around I was checked at 31 weeks and nada.  From time to time I do get some tightening in my lower stomach/pelvic area but nothing major and at night sometimes I have mild cramping.

I hate the last month or so when time slows down because I'm watching every little thing my body does.  It's so frustrating, like waiting for water to boil or something.

  • Uneventful on this end as well.  I am 33 weeks today. I also have not noticed and bh's or at least I don't believe I have.  Good to know it is not uncommon at this piont.
  • I've had a few a couple weeks ago, but none really since.  The nurse in my childbirth class said it doesn't really mean anything if you have or them or not have them (as long as you don't have too many within a hour). She said every pregnancy is different and if you don't have any, don't worry about it.  As long as everything else has been normal, which it sounds like it has, I would say no need to worry about them!

I'm 36 weeks and I haven't felt any yet either. There is a girl in my birthing class who is only a couple days ahead of me and she has been having them for awhile now, plus a lot of lower back pain.

Our teacher said the exact same thing that ettraud said above.. I've just been considering myself lucky that I've had a relatively easy pg.
