Not sure if this has been posted, but I didn't run across it. For you FTM's especially, don't forget to check with your insurance provider to determine if they cover breast pumps. my insurance covers a few of the brands, so definitely will save us the $$$ on that!
Re: insurance coverage - breast pumps
Mine covers them 100% but needs a "diagnosis" and a prescription from my doctor after the baby's born. I discussed this with my OB at my last appointment and she said she is very accustomed to doing this and will write up something like "painful latch" or something that's probably going to be true anyway.
I know it's sort of a controversial issue on this board regarding "scamming" insurance companies and it's a bit of a grey area considering I'm planning to get one regardless of how hard or easy breastfeeding is, but I pay high enough insurance premiums that I don't feel guilty about making sure this is covered (which I believe it should be covered for all women, anyway, but that's a political conversation for another day!

Aww, I'm sorry. I wish they covered it for you. There are less expensive electric pumps than the Medela or ameda brands, I would look into those.
Some of the medical suppliers have the pumps on hand. Maybe call around before hand and have a couple approved companies that you already know have them in stock.
