peanuts & chick peas

I did not know this until the other day. Chick peas and peanuts are in the same "family" and if one reacts to peanuts, they may react to chick peas. Also for those breast feeding, I just found out that fenugreek may also cause a reaction to those who have a peanut allergy also. Tongue Tied

    Fenugreek may but it's not 100% or anything close to it. There are actually a lot of things that have cross-proteins and can cause reactions.  Even chick peas is relatively uncommon though.  My DS has a cross-reaction allergy to lentils which is another (though again, uncommon).  Just use caution and consult with your allergist about the best way to proceed.

    Along with lentils, peas too are legumes.  And can cause problems.  But not necessarily.  

     I have a friend whose son can't do nuts or peas.  :(
