I am 17 weeks pregnant with twins this is the 3rd time I have been in preterm labor. I have been ordered to bed rest for 72 hours. Just wondering what everyone else's experience with twin pregnancy has been like. Joys? Fears? Thoughts? Share your story please! I need some support in this as its been a big struggle from horrible morning sickness to contractions early on. I am feeling a bit alone in this journey.
Re: Twin Pregnancy
I am early on yet but I am a messed up bag of emotions. When I first had my BFP I knew something was different about this pregnancy. I didnt feel that it was just one baby, like I knew it was twins in my heart. Once it was confirmed I was happy, scared of GD, miscarriage, preterm labor (which I went in with both of my previous pregnancies but they were able to stop it), and all of the what if's.
My only suggestion is to make sure youre hydrated and even if you feel that you are, drink more and try to make sure its water. Two different nutrotionalists have told me that in a normal pregnancy you should drink 64 ounces of water a day but with twins it needs to be closer to 84 or more ounces. **TRY** not to worry too much until its actually time to worry. Follow the drs orders and keep a journal of new or worsening symptoms. I have found that is helpful when giving your doc the rundown on how you're feeling. And when I say "time to worry" I mean when the contractions are getting closer and more intense/ youre on your way to the hospital. I know its a super stressful situation and you want whats best for your babies.
I am currently chilling in the perinatal ward for the weekend with similar orders of bedrest, I'm at 20 weeks with some preterm labor. My legs are soooo restless from being in bed for the last 48 hours my entire torso is on fire with itchiness apparently its pregnancy induced?. In other words, I am totally with you, sister! Its 3:45 am snd after being woken by an IV alarm, i just cant get back to sleep. I just keep consoling myself with the thought "this isn't forever." Elephants are pregnant for two years, can you imagine!!!
I'm really sorry you are going through this, it's is hard work growing two babies at once, but I'm sure the light at the end of the tunnel is completly worth it...
Overall the pregnancy hasn't been bad at all for me. Just scary at times.
I'm already measuring 40 plus weeks now and still have 6 to go which can be a little rough but all in all I find it pretty amazing seeing how large my body can mangle to protect and nourish these sweet girls.
I'm nervous to be a FTM in general and then to top that off, I will have two babies so I think that's a normal and expected feeling.
I've found a lot of comfort in the multiples board and a lot of the ladies here are seriously pros! They deserve a lot of credit for staying sane raising multiples and still finding the time to answer all our newbie silly questions.
Hi,
Congrats on your PG. I have 6 month old twins and an almost 3.5 year old DD. I had m/s till almost 16 weeks and I started feeling better around then.Of course I also started showing around then and just got bigger.I think I was OK till about week 26-28.Then it was just hard to sleep.
I was lucky in that I only ended up in the hospital once at 33 weeks with contractions that they stopped and I ended up having my babies at 38 weeks.
Twin PG is no joke, I think this board is great.Because people do understand.I had a singelton PG and as much as I thought it was tough it was nothing like being PG with twins.
Good luck with everything.
I'm still really early on. I hate the pure amount of energy drained from me and the required liquid intake to feel not thirsty...
besides that I've been pretty normal.
I'm finding that even with the required and even exceeding the amount of liquid we're supposed to drink, I'm still thirsty. But yes, walking to the bathroom makes me want to take a nap. I hope we both get our energy back in the 2nd tri!
Amen to that! They recommend half a gallon and I'm drinking over a gallon a day and that BARELY makes me feel not thirsty
