Rachey

Have you thought about making frozen yogurt pops? I know you can just buy the ready made ones, but if you made your own, you could use yogurt that has more fat - and less crap - in it.

Just thought I'd throw the idea out there?

Re: Rachey

  • Great idea! Maybe I should order some of those freeze pop things 100 days of real food lady uses. Do you know what I'm talking about?

I gave almost all of our processed food to the boy scouts today. They probably thought I was nuts. But, after a week like last week, we're getting serious around here!

ETA: he doesn't usually like yogurt, but I bought some stony field organic yogurt pops after he ate one at Panera and he loves them. And, I just ordered some of those silicone smoothie pop holders from amazon. The full fat Greek yogurt would fatten him up quickly! Thanks for the idea!

I meant to tell you about another trick I just discovered with the yogurt, but forgot.

Our "quick trip" to Ikea yesterday extended into lunch time, so I got him some yogurt at their cafeteria. Since he prefers to eat independently, I just got a straw and poked it through the foil lid, and he sucked it out. I don't know if you're planning to try individual servings of yogurt, but that's another way he could feed himself.

And this post reminded me that I just unpacked my ancient "pudding pop" popsicle kit (like, from 1985). Maybe I should start making my own yogurt pops since the Stonyfield ones are a bit pricey.

    Like Bill Cosby pudding pops!?

Good tip! Yeah, he throws a full melt down if I try and feed him. Choose your battles, right? the straw sounds like the perfect solution.

Yep! It's not a name-brand set, though....just some random "frozen dessert" kit. (I still have the instruction paper, so I checked.) We used to make pudding pops with them....and maybe juice pops. But now I'm thinking they'd be great for yogurt....

Or maybe I should use them for banana "ice cream" - have you tried that? Blend the banana, then freeze. It comes out in an ice cream consistency. I add peanut butter when I make it.
