MaterniT21 in Portland?

Anyone in the Portland area done this testing? I have Kaiser and they don't seem to know about it, although I'm still waiting for an appt. with a genetics counselor. I would't mind paying out of pocket for this testing vs. doing amnio. Any advice would be helpful.

    I have Kaiser also and my OB knew what it was but said Kaiser doesn't offer it, but I have been referred to Dr. Kennedy at Mother Joseph Plaza Ultrasound with St. Vincent's to have screening done (optional but covered by my ins, since I am 33 and not technically considered of "advanced maternal age").  I would maybe call there and see exactly what they offer and how it differs from the MaterniT21.  My understanding from my OB is that it is essentially the same but you can't find out gender early like with MaterniT21.

    I go to Womens Healthcare associates in Tualatin. My OB referred me to a genetic counceler with women's healthcare associates at St Vincents. Took my test there last Wednesday. I'm not sure about Kaiser though, I go to Legacy..

    Thanks ladies! At lease that gives me a couple of options after I talk with the counselor.

    There is a similar test called Verify.  I go to Womens Heathcare Assoc/NW Perinatal in Portland and I asked the genetic counselor about Materni21, she said they use Verfiy.  Good Luck!

    Yep, Verify is what I had done at women's health care associates. 

    After my NT scan and blood work I had an 1/15 chance for Down syndrome. I took the test 1/9 and got the result back last Friday, it took 9 days. And it came back negative for T21, T18, T13 I'm soooo happy!!!!!

    I have Kaiser and I had to meet with the genetics counselor before they would give me the kit.  It is not covered and I have to go downtown tomorrow to get my blood drawn.  M-TH before 2:00 because they have to fed-ex the box immediately.  I did not know this and went after work on a Thursday.  Learn from my mistake. ;)
