small victory in our food war

So....I got DS to eat a few pieces of ravioli and an entire serving of peas. Both took a lot of convincing, but he ate them. When he ate the first pea, it was like he realized, "Hey - I remember these, and I like them!"

I'm hoping maybe I can start getting him to eat a few bites of non-yogurt/crackers/cheese/fruit each day.

  • Yay!! Peas!!!

This baby I was babysitting like 1000 years ago didn't want to eat her peas. Every time she took a bite I would shout, "PEeseeeesseessssaaaaaaaassssss" loud and high pitched. It got her to giggle and kept her eating.

The things we do to get kids to eat, right?

Ha, yes! And I'm pretty sure I was 14, I'm 30 now, so yeah, but I remember how well it worked!

Btw, I made crust less quiche for the boys tonight. It's really a no fail recipe. Here it is exactly as written:

    6 eggs
    1/3 cup milk or cream
    1 1/2 tbs flour
    1 1/2 cups shreaded cheddar
    1/2 cup meat/veggies
He might eat teeny tiny ham pieces and peas in it, maybe only put it in half and see how it goes? My boys ate "kid" small salad shrimp and peas in theirs tonight.

325 for 25 mins in a well greased pie plate. Jiggle before you take it out to make sure center is firm. Add 5 more mins if not.

You can't mess it up and it tastes good. I usually serve it with new potatoes and a salad or tonight it was just me and the boys, they ate it with broccoli on the side.

  • That's great!!!

This is exactly what happened with DD.  She hadn't touched veggies in almost two weeks, not even to try a bite.  Then one dinner, she randomly picked up a single pea, and before I knew it, she had gobbled down the whole serving.  Silly babies!

It sounds delicious - I don't think he would eat it right now since it would be new, but I would. Do you have to use an actual quiche pan, or could I use a pie dish? I'm on a self-inflicted spending freeze right now, and I don't have a quiche pan.

Just a pie plate! Nothing fancy, super easy. The pie plate I have is a glass cheapie. It gets the job done.

You're doing great! Just keep offering him different foods!! He will figure out that there's a variety of yummy food out there.
