Im looking to buy an additional carseat so we have one in each car. My DD is only 10 weeks old. She's already 24 inches long and the height limit on her infant seat is 30". I'm afraid she will outgrow it before her first birthday anyways. I want to keep her rear-facing as long as possible, so I'm looking for a good convertible seat that will fit nicely in my husbands 2007 Elantra (not the touring model). Currently we have a Graco Snugride35 and the passenger seat is very far forward. I'm only 5 foot 5 inches tall, and my knees are only a couple inches from the dash. I would move the infant seat to the middle seat, but there is no latch there..and I'm unsure about using the seatbelt to secure it.
My SIL recommended the Safety1st Complete Air 65. Has anyone tried this rear facing in the 07 Elantra?
Re: Convertible carseat for 07 Elantra
Other seats that are often recommended for tall kids and keeping them rear facing when they are older are the Diono Radian and the Clek Foonf. The Foonf is a huge seat and pretty expensive though.
I have a Complete Air 65 that I won. It's a really nice seat, but it's tall so I don't think it would fit in your car RF. I have a SUV.
My husband has a 3 series BMW and it's small in the back seat. The seats we ended up looking at for him initially for him were the Combi Corroco & the Maxi Cosi Priori. We had a hard time justifying the cost on those bc DS is only in that car every week or so.
I ended up seeing a Safety 1st Guide 65 and loved it. The ad had 3 of them in the back of a car. The angle for 22+ lbs in the back of the 3 series is great, the passanger seat can still go all the way back as long as it isn't reclined. I would think to get it at the right angle for a younger baby, you still would have a slight issue but not bad. It goes to 40 lbs RF which is nice as well since we plan to use it RF as long as possible. It's also pretty affordable (I think I paid $70ish for it), so it would be a good option for a second car. I picked up 2 (one for DH & one for Grandma). The Graco MyRide might be another option as well.
