Baby Names

Please help suggest a twin girl name to go with Audrey.

I'd also like to honor my grandmother, Helen. Another potential family name I'd like to use is Marie. I was thinking of Elena, but I would like it to be pronounced like Ellen-a. I'm worried there would be a lot of confusion with the spelling Elena.

 Any thoughts? Recommendations?

Re: Please help suggest a twin girl name to go with Audrey.

  • What about using Helene as a middle name? Or Marie is a middle name that goes with many many names.

My grandmother is Helen and I keep Helene on my list as pottential nn.

I don't know if you choose Audrey becuase of an older era connection or a more modern one but:

    Farrah Helene

    Farrah Marie

    Lorelai Marie

    Caroline Marie

  • I really like Elena. You could also do Helena or just Helen Marie.
  • You could change it a little and use Ella Marie. I think that's really pretty. It also sounds good with Audrey. Audrey and Ella :)
  • Elena = ee-LAY-na

Honestly, I think that you'd be creating a lot of confusion by insisting on any other pronunciation than the above. Sorry!

  • I read it the way you intend it to sound. No confusion here, but maybe its just me...

    I like this a lot.

Either Marie or Helen would work as a middle name for Audrey, and then you could use the other as a middle name for the 2nd baby girl.

Congrats on your twins, and good luck deciding!

  • I'm Elena and it is pronounced El en a broken into three, syllables all soft vowel sounds. which is the traditional correct way to pronounce it. Ee lay na is how it's often pronounced by people who don't know the origin of the name

  • Thanks everyone for the thoughts and insight!

I love Elena, but am worried about all the various pronunciations. I'm not sure if it would drive us crazy correcting people.

So it seems that we have two middle names squared away. Just need to secure a first name.

  • Audrey Marie and Helena Kate?

We have an Audrey, and some possible baby sister names I'm considering for her are Anna and Anneliese.  I also really love Katherine, nickname Kate, but have a niece Caitlin, nn Caity, who lives a mile away from us, so probably should stay away from that.

    Anneliese Helen?
