Ive been dairy free for a week now. DSs congestion has definitely lessened but I am not eating enough. Ive lost almost 3 lbs this week and yesterday I was 2 ounces short when I was pumping at work. At home DS is getting full but it takes longer and he has seemed a little frustrated at the boob. I didnt realize I was getting that many calories from milk/cheese! I made lactation cookies this morning and have had 2 so far. How do you make sure you are getting enough calories?

Once I figured out stuff I could eat and started baking breads and stuff, I ate ALL the time and still lost a lot of weight. With BF and MSPI diet, I lost 85lbs. I only gained 35-40 with my pregnancy! The dairy free diet really makes the weight fall off.
I started making brownies every week, and I would bake banana breads and pumpkin breads. I was seriously always eating!

Yup, this. You just have to make eating a major priority. Plan ahead, have snacks ready that are easy to eat. Calorie dense stuff like nuts, beans, avocado, meat, and plenty of fruits and veggies. Apple slices and carrot sticks with hummus would be a great snack. Tuna mixed with avocado instead of mayo on crackers. Banana and a handful of almonds. Muesli or granola with rice milk. Pbj. Oh, and of course, leftovers! I never make a meal now without planning for leftovers. GL!

It sucks. I lost 10 pounds in a couple of weeks. Then I got stomach viruses. Nice. My supply dipped when I first started the diet and got sick, but it came back. My diet is really not the most nutritious, but it has to be better than formula. I have a very hard time with this because we don't have much time to cook. If you're looking for something yummy and that has fat, make your own chocolate chip cookies. The only special ingredients you need are dairy-free, soy-free butter (I use Earth Balance soy-free, it seems to be sold a lot of places) and Enjoy LIfe semi-sweet chocolate chips. They have saved my life. I can find those a lot of places, too. They are a nice treat when you feel like you can't have so many things.
Couldn't you bake with crisco?
Crisco, and most other solid vegetable shortenings, are usually soy based.
I use the Earths Best "butter" and when I need something neutrally flavored, I opt for lard.

The Crisco I looked at contains soybean oil. For some dealing with MSPI, this is OK. It's not for me.
The Food Allergy board is great for ideas on what to eat. It was there I learned I could eat Chickfila french fries!
