Re: Midwest Mondays

  • 1. Milestones/Challenges?

Our milestone/challenge is teething. Last week we discovered the beginnings of a raised gum area - now, me, DH and my mother have spotted three definite teeth ready to burst through soonish. It's exciting but definitely a challenge! Worse, he has figured out how to push out his bottom lip when he's sad and in pain, but not quite ready to cry, so he's literally giving me a pouty look - begging me to slather baby orajel on him (which according to the label, I can only do every six hours). I'm thinking of getting the teething rings out, but he's not coordinated enough to hold it to his mouth by himself yet (so whoot, I get to hold him even more lol) ~ oh well, we made it through horrible constipation/gas, we can make it through teething!

    2. Random Question: title of autobiography?

I have two! One is "unLOCKEd" (my last name is Locke - silent "e" at the end, so Lock), so cap the last name, and imply you get to key to unlocking all the secrets ;P And two, "My Life on Mysterious Way" (with the cover art being a road sign with "Mysterious Way" printed on it), because of the saying, "God works in mysterious ways" - God definitely has worked in mysterious ways on my life :)

    Bonus Points

    21b8bd6d-be85-485f-a95e-017cf75e5c45

My DH play-eating DS' hand, and my Pomeranian wondering what the heck is going on ;P

P.S. Skibi!  I only now saw your reply in the previous MM checkin about having relatives in Anoka - next time you're around, we should have a play date :D

Love that you have a Pomm!!  I had to put mine down in early Dec due to cancer.  He was my best bud for 15 years.  I miss my little man!

    1. Milestones/Challenges? Today is day one of daycare. DH starts work later than I so he does the drop off and I will pick up, so I got to miss the super sadness this morning and be the hero tonight. I'm 100% confident in our daycare so I think it was worse for DH no matter what.  Evan has started drooling everywhere -  teething, if he gets a tooth anytime soon I'm afraid that BFing will come to an end.

    2. Random Question: If you ever wrote an autobiography, what would your title be? Feel free to explain why :D hrmmm...  Jedi Mind Tricks?  nickname is Jedi...

  • HOLY CRAP - what happened to our checkin??? @~@  It's like a ghost town in here!  Hope there's a ton of replies tonight - or shoot, even tomorrow would get me excited for next week ;P

@jjmrotek: I will totally add you dearie :)  And yay for Pom lovers, though I'm sorry you had to put yours down, thank gosh you had 15years though!  We got mine the same week, that I had my miscarriage, and he was without a doubt my dog therapy during the grieving and healing process ~ love him so much ?

Good luck with daycare, that can be so hard :S

@LollyDoll: Congrats on the five hour stretch!  My DS was sleeping through the night right around two months - starting at around five hours, and working up to nine (most nights ~ though yesterday, was more like seven).  That is GREAT.  But he falls asleep like at seven (like he did tonight), and will be up at 3AM.  Yaaay.  At best, I can fall asleep at like eleven?  So I'll try to fall asleep earlier, but I just can't . . . now, if only I could get him to fall asleep around nine! :P

I might just have to make an advice thread for that one lol.

  • Milestone/Challenges: Char giggled for the first time this week- most amazing sound I've heard in a long time! I went back to work for the first time this weekend. All three kids did amazing, but Char wouldn't hardly even look at me when I came home, pretty sure she was mad at me for leaving her.

Book Title: My book would hit the trash can as soon as it hit a publisher's desk because I am the most boring ordinary person on the planet. No would would waste their money, let alone their time to read it.

Mommy to Evelyn Clare born 6/23/07, Ryan Hansen born 12/10/09, and Charlotte Nicole born 11/1/12
  • Milestone: B started squealing when he's happy. Not quite a laugh yet, but it's still adorable!

Challenge: He won't nap during the day unless he's being held or riding in a car. I've tried the swing, bouncy seat, pnp, walks in the stroller, and crib... nothing. He sleeps great in his crib at night.

    Book title: (TBD)

  • 1. Milestones/Challenges? L is now "talking" to DH and I and I LOVE it! He's such an active little guy, he just has to look at everything.

      2. Random Question: If you ever wrote an autobiography, what would your title be? Crazy Beautiful Life. I love the song and we have certainly had a crazy time trying to get to where we are. Nothing has been really easy for us, but I would so do it again because I wouldn't trade anything!

  • Sorry for the delay- I have no idea what happened to the time yesterday!

Milestone/Challenges: H grabbed on to a toy that hangs from his activity mat! The look on his face was priceless. He got so excited his little feet were kicking like crazy! This past week tummy time hasn't been much fun for either of us. He used to love tummy time but hates it lately.

Autobiography title: Before having Higgins (he was unplanned) my book would have been CowDoc. I has on track to go to veterinary school and treat large animals- mainly dairy cows. After H though, Unanswered Prayers. As much as I wanted vet school and prayed for it for so long, I love my life now and wouldn't change a thing.

  • Sorry so late!  Work is cutting into bump time.  WTF, work?

Milestones:  first real, awake giggle yesterday.  Of course, he was on his changing pad staring at the wall decals.  He is also getting very talkative and responsive, ad getting better at grabbing things.  The stuffing everything in his mouth, of course.

challenges: he added back a MOTN feeding that he dropped 3 weeks ago.  Hope it's a phase!

Book: mine would be a comic book.  The Adventures of Betchy Tired Girl.

book title: The busy life. I have apart-time job,full-time student in a BSN program 2 kids 2 and under a dog, husband and a BS in Biology/Microbiology; or The Women Who Thrives on Stress if it was a biography and MH wrote it.

Katigox We haven't been to Anoka in a little over a year. Hopefully this year. that would be nice.

  • @LissaLee: I think my son gives me the side eye gaze if I leave him alone with my DH for more than an hour . . . like he's ready to holler: "Excuse you?!  Where have you been??" lol, there's a difference between a boring life, and a stable/safe/scheduled life.  With kids around, it's never boring!

@kbl13: my son only falls asleep in our arms as well, and then lets us put him down about ten/twenty/thirty minutes in.  He sleeps great at night though ~ but also has to be held before being put down.  I've tried putting him down drowsy a few times today, but he woke up right away and was crankier than ever . . . but just now, he fell asleep in his vibrating chair on.his.own (NICEEEE!)

@angielayne: I love when they babble like crazy!  I talk to my DS, pause, listen to him ramble then pause, and then I talk again.  We don't understand each other at all, but we hold conversations ;D  And it sounds corny, but yes, it's all worth it in the end, even the heartache, that lets us appreciate the miracle even more :)

@MeganS: my DS is starting to be okay with tummy time, but it's still a struggle.  Hopefully he won't be late developer bc of it :S  And children change everything: whether they encourage you to go back to school, pick up a new hobby, change careers, or be SAHM, it's all great bc they give our lives a whole new meaning :)

@Gargita: my DS has been trying to feed MOTN as well (for the last two nights), and I'm thinking it's bc of the teething.  He's drinking less at a time, but more often.  And he's been falling asleep before finishing he bottle - and the first night, I was just relieved for him bc he had been in pain, and then the second night he was exhausted from being in the car/outings, while DH and I ran errands . . . but tonight, I will wake him right back up if I have to, so he can eat - otherwise, he'll wake up again in the MOTN, bc he's hungry :P  And I love that your book would be a comic book! :D

@skibi: you are a trooper for doing all that!  The only way I could do half (half bc I didn't have kids at home) of that, when I was in college and working, was bc I was off my ADD meds . . . every time I could start thinking "Man, this sucks - I am so tired and busy" - I'd see something out of the corner of my eye, get distracted and forget what I was thinking about.  How I managed to get anything done back then is still a blur ;P  And yup, let me know when you are in town!  We only moved here in August, and I had bad edema so I was mainly apartment ridden (couldn't even go to church for three months!), and then it got so cold my asthma won't let me walk around - so I STILL haven't checked out main street (other than driving through it).  We should take our strollers, and window shop :D

  • katigox I love window shopping! I don't think others like to shop with me because I never really buy anything until  I've window shopped for months. I think I'm finally ready to buy new dishes and I've been window shopping/thinking about it for almost 2-3 years. I'm incredibly picky sometimes.
