low cost doula in nyc?

Hello ladies-

I am looking for a low cost doula in NYC. I am delivering at Mt. Sinai in March and everyone my OB has recommended is way out of our budget. I am willing to work with a student or someone who has just started. Any info would be very helpful.

    Try doulamatch.net.  I found one on there that I like and she is only $600.  I interviewed ones that varied in price from $400-$1500 (but there are also ones that work on a sliding scale based on your income).  At the end of the day, considering I plan to have an epidural, I didn't mind having one with less experience and she was the one I "clicked" with.  I can send you her name if you would like.

    Have you tried Birthday Presence? I believe they have studios in Park Slope and SoHo and I believe they work on a sliding scale.
