I received two of the same gifts and neither had a gift receipt so I wanted to exchange one. I go to target and was told that even though it was on my registry that I could not exchange it bc A it was over 70 and B neither person scanned the actual registry at checkout. Of course I was confused since what's the point of a registry if you can't exchange items from it. None the less DH I left frustrated and annoyed.
I remember someone saying they had this same issue and just wanted to say after a call to their customer relations and 45 minutes of going back and forth we got them to approve an exchange or store credit. They even contacted our closest target to let them know our exchange was approved. And told us to use the red phone to contact them if the CS associate would not work with us. We ended up using the 130 store credit towards a Medela pump since my insurance does not cover one. Just wanted to say if the actual store tries to give you crapcall customer relations, be polite but do not back down and they will work will you.

Re: Target registry.
That's so strange, we returned 5 items to target today, 3 with a receipt, 2 without, and we didn't even register there...had no problems at all. Frustrating how 2 locations of the same store can follow completely different protocol...and even different workers within the same store can vary.
Like you said, definitely important to remain polite but firm, usually gets you the best possible outcome...glad it was a success for you
I had problems returning items there as well with the $75 limit.
They should know that you will probably go spend twice as much in the store when you go in there to exchange or return something.
