Please please help me with convertible car seats

Dh and I are planning on getting convertible car seats when our tax return comes, but since I'm a crazy review lady I've been researching car seats for the past month.  I've looked at Britax, Graco Smart Seat, the Maxi Cosi Pria, and the Combi Coccoro.  I can't chose.  Does anyone recommend one of these, or any other car seat for that matter.  I'm not as concerned about price as I am safety and convenience.  We also have a Dodge Grand Caravan so size is also not much of an issue.  So...ladies please leave me your thoughts on which convertible carseats you prefer. TIA

  • We love our Diono Radians. They are really easy to install. They fold for travel, which is really convenient. They also have very high rearfacing height and weight limits, which was very important to me. They also convert to boosters, so we won't need to buy new car seats again.

  • We've been happy with our First Years TrueFits. If you want to ERF till3+ you might want a seat with a higher RF weight limit; our boys didn't hit 35 lbs till almost 4 but it depends on your kids. It does have one of the tallest shells on the market though so height-wise it's good for ERF. I've also heard good things about the new Graco seat; I think it's called Size4Me or MySize or something?

Another vote. It's so nice that they are compact. Even with a bigger car it's nice not to take up extra space in the car. We currently have blankets, toys, snacks etc in the car for them and I'm sure it will only get worse! They are so sturdy and the girls seem comfy in them too, both my skinny and chubby one :)

  • My oldest figured out how to undo the straps on his Britax around 2-2.5.  We bought him a Cosco seat and really like it.

  • We have the Britax Advocate g3-70 and LOVE them.  I am a total Britax fan though.  :)  I have heard great things about the Dionos also but we stuck with Britax.

  • If size is not an issue I would go with the britax marathon,we have the britax roundabouts fir the twins.

I guess i am saying choose britax

  • We have Britax Marathons and like them.  We bought it for my 4 yr old and then a 2nd one when my 2 yr old needed it. I think they hold 65 or 70 pounds.
