Sex still painful

I had to have 30 stitches after giving birth, clearly the on call doctor who delivered her was a part time butcher. Being intimate is still very painful for me so it's hard for me to get in the mood. My circumstance isn't an extremely common one, but I was just wondering how everyone else is doing in this area?

Re: Sex still painful

  • It's still uncomfortable for me. However, we are using condoms right now and I've always been sensitive to them. Wow, 30 stitches!? I'm sorry!

  • I have yet to DTD so I have nothing to compare it to. But yeah, 30 stitches?! Poor thing. Hopefully things aren't painful for long.

  • 30 stitches?! Wow, I wouldn't be in the mood either.

I had 4 or 5 stitches I think, and the first 3 times was painful for me. But after that, it was like I was brand new! And that was only about 2 weeks ago that I felt I was completely healed and could relax and enjoy it. And that made me get in the mood a lot more as well. Just tell  your H to be patient and understanding. You will heal and get back to normal soon enough.

  • I'm in the same boat. The dr told me I had a 3.5 degree tear and it took over an hour to stitch up. I didn't ask how many stitches... But I know it was a lot. DH and I tried to DTD this past weekend and I couldn't do it. Way too painful and it felt like I was going to tear again. I'm 11 weeks pp.

I know it will get better for us. My OB told me to not be surprised if it hurts for several months. I guess it makes sense that a deep tear will take time to heal. Hopefully things get better for you quickly.

Over an hour?! Dang girl! I'm a L&D nurse & think the most I've ever seen is 20-30 minutes. I can't imagine an hour!

And OP, same for you.. 30 stitches! Poor thing!

As for the original question, it still hurts & I had a c-section. I didn't think it would hurt for me but I can only imagine how it hurts for you. Granted, it doesn't hurt that bad, but it's still not the most comfortable thing in the world.

You're telling me! My dr was also a specialist at reconstructing in the nether regions. She told me it was going to take a while because she wanted to make sure she did it right and didn't want me to have reconstructive problems down the road. She said all too often she sees drs hurry and later on women have complications. That's what I was told, but I'm sure you know more being in LD all the time!

  • I had about 3 stitches and the doc decided to just call it a first degree (after saying it was a 2nd degree). It's still a bit painful to me. It feels like there's always something pulling and then the lady bits are throbbing afterwards. 12 weeks pp.

She is correct! Some dr's like to rush and I feel bad for the patient! Glad she took her time!

  • I had a 'barely first degree' and 2 stitches. It's still uncomfortable depending on the position. We DTD last night and DH let me take the lead on top so I could ease into it as needed and go as slow as I needed to. That was fine until we switched to doggie. Then it was too painful and I had to stop. I'm 14 weeks pp.

  • Wow, I commend you for being able to have sex this soon after 30 stitches. I had 1 and I'm the biggest baby. We've attempted to have sex about 3 times, but it is far from feeling "normal". It gets better each time, but still painful for me.

  • We have tried but it hurts too much to continue. We jave yet to use lube because it's usually "hurry we finally have a minute" but my scar tissue is still super sensitive. I don't know when to expect improvement.
