Mama Guilt

We just left DS's daycare after going to our "Parent-Teacher Conference". DS was asleep when we got there but awake when we were leaving. We were going to try to sneak out but he saw us. I ran over, gave him a kiss, and told him I would see him tonight. He started bawling so DH and I bailed out the door so his teacher could distract him and get him back to eating his snack. It sucked to say the least.

Re: Mama Guilt

  • Ouch! That's a hard one but I can almost promise you that the minute you walked out the door, he was okay. I saw this happen to a little girl and her mom when I was dropping DD off this morning.

It went very well. DS met all of his developmental goals they had for him and they only have a few new things they will be working with him on before he goes to the toddler room. We are still waiting to hear back from the director if we can bring in fruit cups to go with their provided meals. We don't feel that he is getting enough veggies and fruit during the work week.

Thanks everyone for making me feel better. I am sure he was fine after we left but it just breaks my heart. I just want to leave work, go get him and go home now. I really miss my little guy. Good thing the weekend is almost here!

  • That happened to DH a couple weeks ago.  Daycare called and said DD was super duper cranky and fussy, so I knew it was teething related.  I asked DH to run some teething gel and tylenol to daycare (he was wfh that day).  He took it there and she saw him and started bawling when he started to leave.  He said he had to take a minute in the car because it was really hard.

You're not a bad mama, I know it's hard to leave when he wants to be with you, but just remember that he probably forgot about it once he got his snack and started playing with new toys.

  • Thanks Jenny! When I picked up DS tonight they said he stopped crying very shortly afterwards. I figured he probably did, but gosh, it was still rough even if he was giggling 1 minute later. I feel bad for your DH too.

  • You are not a bad mama. I feel this way when I leave S in the church nursery. I have to sneak away, and if he sees me sneaking, its the end of the world/melt down mode.

Glad the parent teacher conference went well!
