DD is mezmorized by things

So I am a little bit worried about DD. She gets completely engrossed in toys and is completely mezmorized by them. Just today she spend 30  minutes trying to put toys ontop of her activity cube. She put the harmonica, cups, hammer, toy dog, blocks, and rattle all on top of it. Then she started shaking it, like she was trying to knock them all off.  It was really cute at first (last week when she started doing it), but now that is all she wants to do. And like I said, today she spent 30 minutes doing just that. When I try to do other things that don't involve toys (like singing, or reading books) she wont sit still at all. She is screaming and crying at the top of her lungs and I have to let her go. Is anyone else having a hrad time getting their LO to sit still. I mean I can't even get her to look at me when I try to do games like "so big" or "where's Mommy's nose".  She will do peek-a-boo, she does wave and clap, and she does babble and point to things around the house.  Anyone have similar issues?

Re: DD is mezmorized by things

  • Let her be mesmerized!  It sounds like she's just using her imagination.  If Shawn is totally engrossed in something, I try to just let him be.  He will sometimes sit in front of our back door for 30+ minutes just playing.  It's a slider door with curtains, and a dowel along the bottom for a lock (yea...kinda ghetto lol).  But he'll pull out the dowel, roll it around, whip around the curtains, hide his face, bang on the glass, etc. and is just totally into it.  Same thing with some of his stuffed animals in his room, just spends forever talking to them.

As long as she's happy playing, play away!
