A hates doing tummy time, he will hardly lay there for 5 minutes and he wants to be picked up and put in his swing or even lay on his back. He's very good at holding his head up. Are there any ideas anyone has that may help with having him do tt longer? Or is anyone's baby like this? I know he should 3 times 15-20 minutes a day (that's what the dr said) and I feel like a failure when I pick him up after about 5 minutes.
Re: Question about Tummy Time
D also hated tummy time, it took some trial and error to figure out how to make it more fun for him. We started by using the boppy to prop him up on. Just to help him adjust to being on his stomach. Also we don't do tummy time unless it has been at least 30 minutes since he last ate. DH lays on the floor with him, as soon as he starts to get fussy we roll him onto his back, play with him and calm him down then back on to his tummy.
Remember tummy time is not just about head control. It also helps build up core muscles from the squirming and wriggling. Tummy time is also where they start to figure out how to roll themselves over.
Sorry if that sounds preachy, I honestly don't mean it to be!
Yes I have him do tummy time on me and he likes that much better, it would be nice to have him be able to do it himself but I'm sure that will come in time. And no I dont think you're being preachy at all. I really appriciate all the advice I can get. Thank you for replying!
I put her on the bed then I sit on the floor, face to face with her. That worked the best, and she doesnt complain anymore.
My mom is tt drill sargeant, so whenever lo spends time with her I know lo is getting a good workout.

I like your idea! I'm gonna try the whole bed thing.
O loathes tummy time too. I can barely get 1 minute in & he's crying. Lately, to get time in, I've been doing it with every diaper change. I'll roll him on his tummy after changing him, & get down on his level & play with him. That seems to help some, but still then, even after 1 minute, he's crying.
My LO also hated tummy time. We realized that one thing he didnt like is the fact he couldnt grip the ground with his toes because of his sleeper. So we started stripping him down to just his diaper and laying him on a warm blanket and he seemed to like that better. We also lay down with him and talk to him. In the morning about 20-30 mins after he eats, I lay him on his tummy in my bed. and lay next to him. He likes to look at the tv in the dark so he has started to push himself up to look at it. We also use our Boppy to prop him up and he enjoys that as well.
