Pregnant after 35

Fell down stairs - happy ending

So this morning, as usual, my dog woke me up to go for a walk. She went down the stairs first and on the third step lost her footing and slid the other 13 steps all the way down to the bottom. Just as the words, "Ohhhhhh noooo" were coming out of my mouth, down I went right behind her. I got bumped around pretty hard so I called the OB advice nurse as soon as the office opened and got in for an emergency ultrasound and same-day appointment with my OB. After a long day of worrying, we found out baby is okay, placenta is not torn as they feared, and baby is a GIRL! We are so excited.

Now to put rubber grippies on the hardwood stairs until we can get a runner installed...

  • That is scary! Glad you are okay!

  • I live in a quad level house and this scares me every time I come down from the bedroom or to do laundry. I am glad you and the baby are fine and congrats on your baby girl!! Smile

  • Congrats on your baby girl!!!

    Glad everything is ok.

I know the feeling of falling down stairs. I used to live in a 2 story home and fell down the stairs, because of my slippery thin socks - ended up breaking my pinky toe. Get those socks with the rubber stops on the bottom!

  • So glad you and your LO are okay!

(This is one of my biggest fears, as our bedroom door opens right out to the top of the stairs and going to the bathroom in the middle of the night often ends up with me stumbling around because I'm still half asleep and unused to my expanding belly! Plus, the cat doesn't help.)

I agree-- time to get some extra safety measures installed!

  • Yikes, scary!! So glad you are all right. And what a way to do it, but congrats on joining Team Pink!

I fell the other day on a wet wood tie bordering the garden, but I actually fell into the nice soft garden mulch so I wasn't hurt, just incredibly embarrassed.

  • Oh no! Glad you are both OK! I guess that's one good thing about a single level house.
