Pregnant after a Loss

Betas up, but...

My doctor's office called with the results of my second blood test. They said my betas went up, which is good, but not as high as they would like to see. They scheduled me for an ultrasound tomorrow morning and are taking more blood as well. I'm 6 weeks today (since my siggy refuses to update). Has anyone had results like this? What did it mean for you?

Re: Betas up, but...

  • Betas can be very tricky to understand. I have read a lot of stories of when the betas did not rise as quickly as hoped and everything still turned out great. I hope that you have one of those stories to share after tomorrow

  • Did they give you the numbers? Did they double in 48 hours or just go up?

I hope you get good news at your ultrasound!

  • Betas are super tricky! Most healthy pregnancy's demonstrate a doubling of the betas in 48-72 hrs; however there is a percentage of normal pregnancies with slow rising betas. Hope you have a great U/S and that your follow up betas come back great!

This. I've known quite a few ladies who had slow rising betas, but had completely normal pregnancies. GL with your u/s!
