Both of our parents got the pregnancy announcement cards last night. The first thing out of my mothers mouth when we got on the phone was, "Congratulations!!". The first thing my MIL said was, "Is it too early to find out the sex?"
A little backstory- DH is the youngest of 3 childen in his family, all boys. The oldest brother passed away when he was a teen. The middle brother is 37 and has no intention of having a family. The only grandkids that DHs parents are going to get is from us. The In-laws really wanted to have a girl but they never got one and here we are with all boys as well.
I get that my in-laws are anxious about the possibility of having a girl grandchild but, no where in the conversation did the word 'congratulations' even come out of their mouths. It annoys me to no end especially since they didnt have a good reaction last time either. End vent.
Re: My MIL annoys the crap out of me.
Maybe they were just so darn excited that they forgot to congratulate you??!?!
yeah..it's annoying.

"Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer." Romans 12:12
That's how my mom and my sister roll as well.
Although as we continue to expand our family, my mom has mellowed out and my sister just thinks she's funny.
With Otis we did the elective scan at 17 weeks to find out his sex. The tech said, "There's his penis!" My sister's first words were, "Are you sure that's not his arm? Can you keep looking for a vagina?"
Because we already have two boys it's like the only thing people ask. We're team green this time because of how much it annoys me.
I can understand they're excited to find out what the baby is but yeah... a little Congrats certainly wouldn't have hurt.
And Rachey, I SO hear you. Everyone is all "I'm so happy you're FINALLY getting YOUR boy". I just smile and nod but really I want to slap a few of them.
No, it was probably more like, "Oh crap, not again!! Well, maybe its a girl this time."
Amen sista
