Recommend your jogging stroller-

Prior to having DD I was a moderate runner. I would run 3-5 miles/day, my longest run was an 8 mile turkey trot and was interested in training for a half marathon. After DD was born I never got back into running other than a jog around the neighborhood or a 5k on the treadmill a few times a week, but honestly I hate running on a treadmill. Point is- I'm not a triathlete, but I'm also not a light jogger. I want to get back out there after this LO is born, and DH has agreed to essentially let me buy what I want (call it temporary insanity?). I don't want a double- but I want something that is compatible with my Chicco KeyFit so I can get out there as soon as I'm up to it, and I want something that will handle regular 3-5 mile runs with the potential for longer runs in the future. I've been looking at the BOB Revolution SE, but honestly have no idea. I would love any recommendations!

TIA!

  • I have the Baby Trend Expedition. and love it.  I got the car seat to go with it (not sure how it would work yours) I haven't gone for to many/long runs, mostly about 2 miles is my longest with LO.  But we have gone on as many walks as we can when it gets decent out.  I have two other friends that have the Expeditions and they love them too.  But if you can afford it Ive heard the BOBs are the best way to go.

I also don't plan on taking LO out for super long half marathon training runs.  Mostly cus Id rather focus on myself then him on those runs ;).

That's a good point- I didn't think about the focus aspect of it during training... It's obviously been a while since my last real run...

  • We have the BOB Ironman.  It's seriously awesome if you are really into running.  The fixed front wheel means it's not good for shopping or the grocery store, but for us that wasn't the intent of it.  We did not use it with an infant seat adapter, but I know they exist.  We bought ours used from Craigslist, which I highly recommend.  It saves you a ton of money, and they are so well built that buying used is not an issue.  BOB allowed me to do a near-PR half marathon almost exactly a year after DD was born.

  • Most jogging strollers with or without the infant carrier are not meant to be used to run with a baby under 6-8 months old.
  • I have the 2011 BOB revolution and love it.  I've taken LO for runs in it several times and he's been happy the whole time.  Never tried to take him using the car seat adaptor though as my running route is usually a gravel trail with bumpy access routes.   We love the swivel front wheel as well and used it as our exclusive stroller up until ~2 wks ago when we bought an Uppababy Gluxe umbrella stroller.

  • I have a Chicco keyfit as well and from what I've seen, you basically can't fit a Chicco into anything but Chicco. I think I have to sell mine and buy a new carrier and jogger. If I'm wrong, someone let me know?
  • I have the Bob Revolution stroller. It is great. I also have the Chicco Ky Fit 30 car seat and there is an adapter for it to snap on top. You aren't supposed to run with the baby in it with the car seat, but I did short spurts of jogging and it was fine. My son is now 4 months old and he has been able to sit in the stroller without the car seat for a few weeks.  I only jog with him in it on smooth surfaces, though, so I make sure his head isn't bouncing around. HTH!
