TTC question-suggestions welcomed

My DW and I have been TTC for only two months, we were pretty sure it didn't take this month because we thought our timing was off. But my period is 4 days late, but the HPT is negative. I am going to take another test tomorrow morning. But my problem is that my cycle is pretty short so I should ovulate next weekend so we will inseminate late next week. Should we go ahead with the insemination? I know so many of you have been TTC much longer and might have some good advice.

You're temp charting, right? Are you using OPK's? I can't remember. Does it look like you're clearly in the leuteal phase and does it appear that you ovulated? What's the typical length of your leuteal phase?

I guess I wouldn't insem again until you've had a clear beginning of a new cycle. In other words, get your period and start charting anew, base your timing on the actual cycle rather than solely using past cycles to predict timing.

I have only been using OPK. The first month we got a positive ovulation, but haven't got a positive since then. We have done the insemination anyway because we are using a KD and its available to us, so we went for it anyway.

Ofcourse I am analyzing everything about my body. I am nauseous alot, I have been sleeping a ton and taking lots of naps. But I could just be in tune more now that we are TTC.

My first suggestion would be to add temp charting to the mix. While OPK's can be really helpful, they don't confirm that ovulation actually occurred. Temp charting will help you out there. Of course it's not 100% accurate, but it provides a LOT more information to give you a better idea of what's going on.

It's awesome that you have a KD, and that costs are low, but the emotional toll can be high with cycle after cycle of BFN's and so it's best to get as much information about what's going on as you can. You'll definitely want to make sure that you're showing signs of ovulation.

We have been thinking about temp charting, but know little about it. Has anyone found any good sites that explain the temp chart process?

From just one person's experience, our first month of TTC, my wife got her period a full week late. We determined in the end it was NOT a chemical pregnancy, it was that she had ovulated much later than ever before...and found out from these boards that the stress of TTC can cause that.

So, I'd look for the signs of ovulation. Don't inseminate based on a date, but rather based on all the signs.

Are you doing accupuncture? If not, perhaps consider that to help keep the cycle regular. This might not be your issue, but it can't hurt! We also used a KD without a doctor's assistance, so I know it's a bit different than having a professional tell you exactly when it's time. Every tool you can use is great--we, and many others on this board, read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" in order to help feel more confident that timing on inseminations was correct (especially if you don't always get a OPK to signal ovulation). Maybe give it a shot?

I am going to get that book for sure. Thank you ladies. I guess to be honest I am just a little intimidated to start the temping. I am NOT a morning person and hit snooze a few times before I get out of bed and actually wake up. I don't know how to make myself take my temp very first thing in the morning. Any suggestions?

Hi doodah, there is a site called fertility friend. I also read book tcoyf and found it very helpful. I don't temp or chart anymore because I'm monitored multiple times a month at re office and it was mostly making me crazy. Good luck to all!

I am on fertilityfriend.com and right now I use it to track my cycle and ovulation. I know there is the option of tracking temps too. I am going to start doing that too.

I'm the exact same way. Honestly, I was still able to go back to sleep after temping. I'd just hit snooze, stick the thermometer in, wait for it to beep, look at it for 1 sec, and put it down. Most of those digital BBT's will keep the last temp as a record, so when you're awake then you just start it up again to read the last temp and enter it into fertility friend at that point. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, seeing as how I loooove my morning snoozes. You get used to it.

I haven't temp in awhile I might get into
That again! I use clear blue ovulation kit every month and Im on a preconception diet that is awesome!! But , I do have a question for you all. What do you think about fertilityaid or fertilityblend? Has anyone use it?
