Question regarding pitocin and placenta encapsulation

After I have the baby both times they gave me pitocin to help deliver the placenta.  When going over my birth plan they still recommended this regardless if I have an epi or not.

Will that effect the placenta for being encapsulated or does it matter at that point?

TIA!!!

Re: Question regarding pitocin and placenta encapsulation

  • I do not think it would matter especially if you are doing the traditional chinese medicine form.  This process steams and dehydrates the placenta then you take it in pill form.  I am not sure if you are taking the placenta raw though.

  • There are herbal remedies you can use to promote blood clotting after delivery. I highly recommend delayed cord cutting... you might even be interested in doing a lotus birth, or partial lotus birth. A friend did this and had a pretty bowl to hold the placenta in until they cut the cord three hours later. Then they began the encapsulation process.
